Chrosziel has a very unusual solution. They sell it with their DSLR setup and call it the “DV balancer”. The name reveals that it was originally designed for use with DV camcorders.

The device comes with a video DVD in German and English. Basically it’s a guy showing you how to setup the device. It’s quite practical that they put this info on a DVD, because it’s not easy to setup the DV balancer and I have no idea how you could explain that on a piece of paper.

Setup takes about 20 to 30 minutes and it’s done without the camera. You have to put the shoulder thing behind your neck and then open different screws and adjust them in a certain sequence. This isn’t easy and it’s particularly hard to get it high enough to make the LCD loupe in a useable position.

The quality of this device is very good, all knobs and screws are easy to twist and lock as expected from Chrosziel gear.

As you can see, the special thing about this system is that it comes without handles and is supposed to give you freedom of your hands. They mention this fact very often in the video but eventually we think it only proves the point, that the left right balance is very good.
