Poll: What Would You Want from a DJI Ronin 4D Successor?

Poll: What Would You Want from a DJI Ronin 4D Successor?

When DJI introduced the Ronin 4D in October 2021, it created a genuinely new category: the first 4-axis cinema camera, integrating a full-frame sensor, active vertical stabilization, LiDAR focus, and a long-range wireless system into a single body. Nearly five years on, there is still no successor in sight, so we want to know what you would actually want from a next-generation 4D.

We have followed the system closely ever since, from our original video review and 6K lab test through the Ronin 4D Flex, the long-delayed 8K variant, and the surprise price drop in April 2025 that took the 6K down to $4,999 and cut the ProRes RAW license from $979 to $1. What once looked like a niche curiosity has steadily earned its place on serious sets.

From niche curiosity to working tool

The list of high-profile productions tells the story. Netflix’s Adolescence was shot entirely on the Ronin 4D, with all four episodes captured as single continuous takes. Alex Garland’s Civil War used it as the handheld B-camera for roughly 70 percent of the film alongside a Sony VENICE 2 A-camera. And on F1: The Movie, Claudio Miranda reached for the Ronin 4D for nimble paddock and pit-lane work where a full cinema rig was too cumbersome. Even DJI’s own one-take showcase short Christmas Eve hinted early at how far the system could go. The 4D has had a real renaissance.

And yet the wait continues. The price cut reignited speculation that something new is coming, and DJI’s parallel work on the more conventional RS 5 gimbal shows the Ronin line is far from idle, yet NAB 2026 came and went with no 4D announcement. So we want your input, whether that means a direct sequel or something that heads in a completely different direction. You can browse DJI’s current Ronin 4D lineup here. Tell us below.
