The Lowepro Fastpack IV collection includes three backpack sizes β the compact BP 150 AW IV, mid-sized BP 250 AW IV, and larger BP 450 AW IV β each built around a dual-compartment design that separates camera equipment from personal items. Key features include quick side access to the camera compartment, a redesigned full back-panel opening, adaptable interior storage, organizer pockets, and lockable zips. The front panel uses 100% recycled nylon with a protective coating for improved resistance to rain, abrasion and everyday wear. The backpacks are now available for pre-order starting at $139.95.
Having the right backpack for your camera gear is essential, especially if you travel a lot with your gear. For example, we recently wrote about the new UNCOVER bags and backpacks from Manfrotto.
The US company Lowepro has a long tradition of making backpacks, camera bags, and other camera-storage solutions. Now part of Videndum (since 2017), Lowepro just released a new line of camera backpacks – the Fastpack IV Collection.
Lowepro describes the Fastpack line as a new generation of camera backpacks intended for photographers, filmmakers and other creators who regularly combine production work with commuting or travel. The range consists of three sizes and retains the side-access design associated with previous Fastpack models while adding a revised back opening, adaptable internal storage and updated materials.
All Fastpack IV backpacks use a dual-compartment layout that separates camera equipment from personal belongings. This arrangement is designed for users who need to carry a camera kit alongside items such as clothing, food, or everyday accessories, rather than dedicating the entire backpack to production equipment.
A side-access camera compartment allows the wearer to reach equipment without completely removing the backpack. In practical terms, this can be useful when changing lenses or retrieving a camera while working in locations where putting a bag on the ground is inconvenient.
The collection also introduces a redesigned full back-panel opening. This provides access to the main storage area and gives the user a clearer overview of the equipment inside. While side access is intended for quick retrieval during a shoot, the rear opening is more suitable for packing, reorganizing, or checking the complete contents of the bag.
According to Lowepro, the internal configuration can be adapted so that the backpack functions either as a camera bag or as a full-capacity daypack. This may be relevant for users who do not need to carry the same amount of equipment on every assignment. A bag could, for example, be configured for a mirrorless camera and several lenses on one day, then reorganized for travel or general use on another.
Additional organizational features include dedicated pockets for smaller items and lockable zips. Selected models are also described as cabin-friendly.
The exterior materials have also been revised. The front panel is made from 100% recycled nylon and includes a protective coating intended to improve resistance to rain, abrasion and normal wear. Across the collection, Lowepro states that recycled fabric accounts for up to 78% of the material used.
The Lowepro Fastpack IV Collection is scheduled to become available worldwide in July 2026. You can currently preorder the backpacks, and the pricing is set at $139.95 for the smallest BP 150 AW IV, $169.95 for the mid-size BP 250 AW IV, and $189.95 for the largest BP 450 AW IV.
