SmallRig Cage and L-Shaped Plate for Sigma FP2 Introduced – Wooden Grip, HawkLock NATO Rail, Arca-Swiss Base

SmallRig Cage and L-Shaped Plate for Sigma FP2 Introduced – Wooden Grip, HawkLock NATO Rail, Arca-Swiss Base

Although the Sigma FP2 hasn’t started shipping yet, SmallRig has its first accessories ready: a full cage with a built-in wooden grip and a lighter L-shaped mount plate. Both match the look of SmallRig’s original Sigma FP cage and are now available for pre-order.

The new Sigma FP2 keeps the modular brick concept of the original fp: no built-in grip, no viewfinder, and accessories added as the job demands. That makes a cage almost mandatory for many video users. When the first fp arrived, SmallRig was quick with a cage for it as well, and the new FP2 cage follows the same recipe with a wooden handle on the right side.

The cage

SmallRig’s Cage for Sigma FP2 (item 6505) attaches with a three-point lock, combining a bottom screw, a locating pin and a side screw. According to SmallRig, this keeps the cage from twisting, while cutouts leave all buttons, ports and Sigma’s own accessories accessible.

For expansion, the cage has a built-in HawkLock NATO rail, 1/4″-20 threads and ARRI locating holes for magic arms, monitors and top handles. A modular cold shoe can be removed so that the cage stays compatible with Sigma’s original EVF. The base has an integrated Arca-type quick release plate, which SmallRig says mounts directly on Arca tripod heads and DJI RS 2, RS 3, RS 4 and RS 5 gimbals. An HDMI cable clamp is included to protect the camera’s port when an external monitor is connected, and a magnetic wrench is stored in the cage for tool-free adjustments.

The cage is made from aluminum alloy and stainless steel, with a wooden grip and silicone parts. It measures 127.8 x 53.0 x 89.6mm / 5.0 x 2.1 x 3.5in and weighs 174g / 6.1oz. In the box are the cage, the HDMI cable clamp, a cold shoe mount and a user manual.

The L-shaped mount plate

For users who want less bulk, SmallRig also offers an L-Shaped Mount Plate with Wooden Handle for Sigma FP2. It mounts with a 1/4″-20 screw and an anti-twist locating block, and protects the bottom and right side of the camera. A threaded hole on the back supports Sigma’s original optical viewfinder, and the bottom has 1/4″-20 threads and locating holes for Arca-type quick release plates. A magnetic wrench is integrated here as well. There is no NATO rail, cold shoe or HDMI clamp on the plate. It measures 125.0 × 56.7 × 79.0mm / 4.9 × 2.2 × 3.1in, and weighs 129.0 g / 4.6oz.

Price and availability

The SmallRig Cage for Sigma FP2 (6505) is listed at $79.99, and the L-Shaped Mount Plate at $49.99. Both are available for pre-order from SmallRig, with a 2-year warranty. The cage is expected to ship shortly before the camera, which Sigma will release on November 11, 2026 at $2,199 / €2,199 for the body.
