BLAZAR is now shipping the Beetle 1.33× Anamorphic series, a family of three compact full-frame lenses—32mm, 45mm, and 65mm—each featuring a built-in 90° rotation mechanism for horizontal and vertical framing. The lineup targets filmmakers producing content for both cinematic and social formats.

The Beetle lenses share the same compact “pancake” construction and are engineered for full-frame mirrorless systems. Their integrated rotation button allows for a quick 90° optical turn, enabling operators to switch instantly between widescreen anamorphic capture and vertical content without remounting the camera. This feature supports hybrid workflows—ideal for productions needing cinematic and social media versions of the same scene.

Anamorphic Look and Handling

Each lens provides a 1.33× squeeze, suitable for popular sensor ratios and straightforward desqueeze in post-production. BLAZAR claims the Beetle lenses deliver visual characteristics similar to a 1.5× anamorphic, including elongated oval bokeh and distinctive silver flares. Their minimal weight and short length make them practical for gimbals, compact rigs, and travel filmmaking.
