DaVinci Resolve 20 Public Beta 2 Released – Speed Keyframe Improvements, Voiceover Recording Fixes, and More

Blackmagic Design has released DaVinci Resolve 20 Public Beta 2, with a focus on speed keyframe improvements, along with a round of bug fixes. This update also includes fixes for voiceover recording and refinements to dual-screen layouts on the edit page. Let’s take a look!

In case you missed it, Blackmagic Design only recently released DaVinci Resolve 20 in beta, which introduced 150 new features. Nino spoke with DaVinci Resolve specialist Simon Hall at NAB 2025 about some of the highlights, including IntelliScript – an AI transcription and script-based editing tool – the new music editor, an AI voice conversion tool, and more. Speed keyframe improvements

One of the more practical updates in public beta 2 is the ability to see and adjust speed keyframes directly in the viewer. As you make changes in the keyframe editor, they’re shown in real time, which takes some of the guesswork out of timing. For editors who work with variable speed changes, that kind of instant feedback can save a lot of back-and-forth.

Voiceover recording fixes

This version of Resolve 20 also has fixes that address issues with voiceover recording. The update ensures that recordings follow track selection correctly, even when Track FX are applied. Monitoring is also more reliable – if other tracks are set to solo or arm, you’ll still be able to monitor voiceovers correctly.

Timeline and layout improvements

There’s also better syncing between the source timeline viewer and tabbed timelines. When dragging and dropping media or applying edits, the viewer now syncs more reliably, which should reduce misalignment or confusion in multi-timeline projects.

Dual-screen layouts on the edit page have also been refined, particularly for those working with vertical timelines. It’s now possible to minimize and restore undocked windows like the keyframe editor more easily, plus, the layout remains more consistent across different timeline resolutions.

Keep in mind that if you’re using Blackmagic Design video hardware for monitoring, you’ll also need to install the latest version of the Desktop Video software to ensure compatibility.
