Hollyland LARK A1 Compact Wireless Microphone System – First Look

The Hollyland LARK A1 is a compact wireless microphone system designed for content creators and vloggers, consisting of two audio transmitters and one audio receiver that features a built-in USB-C or Lightning connector. With a very aggressive price tag starting at $34.90, the LARK A1 offers a solid value for money in a crowded audio market. So let’s take a closer look at it!

While Chinese camera accessories manufacturer Hollyland began in the industry by creating affordable wireless video systems, they developed a solid lineup of wireless audio systems over the years. Indeed, during NAB 2025, the company released the Hollyland LARK MAX 2, which we discovered in a funny and excellent interview with Randel.

The Hollyland LARK A1 wireless microphone system was announced two weeks ago, and CineGear 2025 was the perfect occasion for us to stop by their booth and take a closer look at it in person.

Hollyland LARK A1 – features

The Hollyland LARK A1 is a really compact and lightweight wireless microphone system that measures only 30 x 16.3 x 8.8mm/1.18 x 0.64 x 0.34in and weighs 8g/0.28oz for the transmitter, and the receiver is 34 x 16.3 x 9mm/1.33 x 0.64 x 0.35 for only 5.9g/0.21oz. You read that right, that entire system is as small as it can get and weighs nearly nothing. Indeed, as the LARK A1 is designed for creating content with a smartphone, they don’t require a 3.5mm microphone input/output and the preamps that accompany it, internal recording, etc., which helps keep the size and weight to a bare minimum.

The system supports audio recording at up to 48 kHz in 24-bit resolution. You can make gain level adjustments in 6 levels via the free LarkSound app.

Two versions of the receiver are available: one has a built-in USB-C connector for Android and the latest iPhone models, while the other one has a Lightning connector. On the side of the receiver, there is a USB-C port, allowing you to charge your phone while using the LARK A1.

The Holylland LARK A1 Combo and Duo versions come with a charging case. The transmitter has a battery life of around 9 hours, and the charging case can charge both microphones twice, so if you only use one microphone, you can achieve a maximum runtime of around 54 hours (9 x 2 x 3), which is quite impressive. The transmitter and charging case both take less than 1 hour and 30 minutes to charge fully.
