We recently reported about the first three Hobolite fixtures: the Pro, Avant, and Mini LED lights. What immediately stands out with Hobolite LED lights is their exterior design. Indeed, you can tell the R&D team spent a lot of time designing these vintage-looking fixtures. Following the same path, Hobolite has just released a new, very compact, lightweight light in its lineup: the Hobolite Micro.

Hobolite Micro – features

The Hobolite Micro measures 5,08×6,85×7,62cm / 2″x2.7″x3″ for a weight of only 235g/0.52lbs. The external housing is made mainly of aluminum; both sides are covered with brown faux leather. The light is IP20-rated, which means it is resistant to dust or objects over 12mm in size, but not water.

With a maximum power output of 8W, don’t expect to fight the sun with the Hobolite Micro. However, it could be a valuable addition to your kit as an accent light, thanks to its bi-color LED chip that can go from 2.700K to 6.500K. According to Hobolite, the Micro has a CRI of 96+ and a TLCI of 96+.

The Micro is powered via one removable Lithium-ion battery on the fixture’s left side. According to the company, you can run the light at full power for 50min and 1.6 hours at 50%. In addition, the light comes with two rechargeable batteries and a charging dock.

At the back of the fixture, you’ll find a small LCD screen with two knobs to adjust the light intensity/color temperature and navigate inside the menu. Below the screen is a USB Type-C port to charge the batteries.

The bottom of the Hobolite Micro features a built-in V-Mount style quick-release plate with a 1/4 “-20 mounting point in the middle of the quick-release plate.

The Hobolite Micro comes with a couple of lighting modifiers that attach to the front of the light via magnets. In the box, you’ll find a 20-45° adjustable lens, a frosted dome, a fresnel lens, some color filters, and a set of barndoors. To give you an idea, the maximum output of the light is at 6,500K with the 20-45° lens in spot mode, which gives you an output of 462lux at 1m/3ft.
