Canon will be using a new “Hybrid IS†system for image stabilization. The new IS system will compensate for both rotational and linear camera shake, whatever that means. It uses an “angular velocity sensor†and an “acceleration sensor†to compensate the lens elements for both types of movement. All of this translates to better image stabilization and better images for all of us HD DSLR shooters. It would be nice to have this feature in upcoming camera bodies, then all the lenses would have image stabilization.
