Libec has just announced a new series of camera bags with a very sleek and minimalist design for every day carry: the Libec Urban Cambag series. Let’s take a closer look at these bags!

Libec Urban Cambag Exterior

Libec is a Japanese company mostly known for making tripods, sliders, and everything related to camera support in general. In a surprising move, they just launched their first lineup of camera bags called the Libec Urban Cambag series.

Indeed, there is not one, but two versions of this gray looking bag: the Urban Cambag 12 and Urban Cambag 17. Obviously, one of the main differences between the Urban Cambag 12 and 17 is the size and capacity. In fact, the number in the name is the capacity of each bag. But, both bags have a lot of things in common.

One thing I hate is when a camera bag screams, “I’m a camera full of expensive gear.” This is not the case with these Libec bags, and they have a very minimalistic look. No branding on the exterior, no camera logo, it just looks like a regular bag from the outside.

Talking about the outside, they are made out of nylon, so they are not weatherproof, but a handy rain cover is included and is located right under the bag in a small pocket. For easy lifting, there is a carrying handle at the top of the bags.

To carry your everyday items, the smaller version features one A5 size front pocket, while the bigger version has two: one A5 and one A4 pocket.

On both sides of each bag, there is a zipper to promptly access the interior of the bag and grab your camera. You can’t lock these pockets, and it’s of one the only complaint I have about this bag.

If you are traveling, there is a trolley sleeve at the back of each bag so that you can carry it on top of your carry-on luggage, for example.

A bigger bag means it can carry more things and more weight. To help you with that, the Urban Cambag 17 is equipped with a sternum and waist strap. You can remove the waist strap when you don’t need it.

At the back of each bag, there is also a pouch where you can put your laptop. The Urban Cambag 12 can carry up to a 13-inch Macbook Pro, while the Cambag 17 can carry a 15.6″/16″ MacBook Pro.

Finally, both bags can carry a tripod, but differently. Indeed, the Urban Cambag 12 uses two straps at the bottom of the bag, while it’s bigger brother uses a mesh pouch and a strap on the right side of the pack.

Libec Urban Cambag Interior

The interior of both bags is very similar, except with more space for the larger model. The interior is divided into two parts in “camera mode.” First, there is the top part where you can carry your everyday items like your headphones, external hard drives, books, camera accessories, and so on.

At the bottom, there is a removable pouch where you can put your camera and lenses, and that you can quickly access and slide from the side pockets.

When you don’t want to bring your camera with you, you can switch into “regular mode” and remove the camera pouch. The layer that separates the two parts of the bag can collapse, so the two sections of the bag merge.
