Magic Lantern Coming To A Canon 5D Mark II 2.0.4 Soon.

Magic Lantern 5D MK II 2.0.4

Magic Lantern 5D MK II 2.0.4

Trammell Hudson has been working to get Magic Lantern into the new 2.0.4 firmware for the Canon 5D Mark II. It sounds like he is very close. Here is a quote ripped from DVInfo.net Go Tramm Go!

“The new features in 0.1.8 are (besides 2.0.4 firmware support) auto booting, waveforms, spot-meter and USB control (via PTP). There isn’t really that much new code, so hopefully it won’t take too long to decide that the stability is unchanged from the previous release. The ML audio control doesn’t inter-operate with Canon’s, so you have to use the ML menu and con-fig file to set the gains. 1080i HDMI continues to be problematic and there is no estimate for when/if it will be functional.”

I agree, 7D is the poor DSLR even Canon gave him 25P since it’s release. We need an update by Canon and please, Trammell, do something !

He is working on the 7D just don’t know if it’s going to be possible though…hard to figure out as there is a lack of good info on it. I’m just hoping Conon will come with a 7D update and I think they will so for now I’m putting my hope on Canon and I think they will come through for us.

No the 7D is a great camera. The audio firmware update and histogram should be coming soon. No real date. But I can confirm that they will release it. I would not be surprised if it is announced at NAB. Just don’t know for sure.
Thanks for the comment.

Looks like 5d is keeping its position as the primary target for all video concerned adjustemens and fineses. I will have to jump out of the 7d ship…

I wouldn’t yet. There’ll be a respective firmware update once they satisfy all the 5DII owners.

Not so,. He’s just addressing the larger 5DII user base that predates the 7D first.
