NAB 2011 – Josh from Technicolor on their new picture style

April 14th, 2011

By: Sebastian Wöber

So this new picture style by Technicolor was announced last week but hardly anybody knows what it can do for us.
I talked to Josh from Technicolor who explained what their “Cine Style” actually is: Basically it transforms the normal flat curve the dslrs use to treat their image into a perfect logarhitmic curve that is much more efficient in terms of using the chips dynamic range. If you wanna get more into the details of cine curves you should catch up on rec. 709 (standard for “flat” picture curve) and logC (logarhitmic). Also you can check out this video to get a better idea.
