ORCA OR-134 Camera Assistant CASE Combines Modularity, Comfort, and Workflow Efficiency

ORCA has introduced the OR-134 Camera Assistant CASE, a purpose-built bag developed with working ACs to combine modular design, smart ergonomics, and hybrid functionality in one professional solution.

Unlike most production bags that recycle existing concepts, the OR-134 was developed in direct collaboration with Swiss DP / camera assistant Valentino Vigniti who outlined the needs of ACs on set. Over the past year, Orca refined the bag by merging features from its sound, video, and lighting lines into a single model. The OR-134 stands out as a dedicated tool for camera assistants rather than an adapted all-rounder, and it comes packed with thoughtful details designed to speed up workflow and improve comfort on set.

Clean layout and easy access

Inside the OR-134, every compartment is designed for visibility and efficiency. When opened, tools and accessories are immediately visible, making it faster to grab and repack items without disrupting the workflow. The layout avoids clutter, with every element serving a clear purpose. A detachable cleaning pouch allows ACs to keep essential maintenance tools within easy reach.

The bag also includes multiple storage loops, D-rings, and external “ears” for attaching clamps, cables, gaffer tape, and other accessories on the outside, so essentials can be grabbed in seconds without unpacking.

Modularity and transport options

The OR-134 is built around modularity. The front section can be configured in two ways: a slim flat front for compact transport or an expanded front compartment for jobs that demand more gear. This makes the bag adaptable to both travel and larger setups.

Like many Orca bags, the OR-134 integrates with Orca’s own trolleys as well as third-party Magliner carts, and the trolley can be quickly detached on set to avoid obstruction while working.

For weather protection, the bag features water-resistant materials and includes a dedicated rain cover that shields it during transport.

Ergonomics and comfort

Recognizing that the OR-134 will often carry heavy loads, Orca paid special attention to the shoulder strap. It uses memory foam padding that molds to the body and heat-pressed air tunnels that reduce sweat and improve ventilation during long shoots.

The overall form factor is compact enough for air travel while remaining deep enough to store core tools and accessories. The combination of size, layout, and comfort makes it well suited for ACs who need to stay mobile.

Pricing and availability of the ORCA OR-134 Camera Assistant CASE

Orca is targeting a retail price of around €380 for the full package, with a possible €300 base option (flat pouch only) and €100 add-on for the expanded front. Availability is expected within three months, with worldwide rollout planned within six months.

Designed for ACs, with ACs

For Orca’s design team, the OR-134 was both a challenge and a puzzle: merging multiple requests into one cohesive solution meant balancing compromises while maintaining functionality.
