Saramonic has released the TC‑NEO, a compact wireless timecode generator designed to keep multi-camera and recorder setups in sync on professional shoots. Its standout feature is a high-precision oscillator rated at ±0.05 ppm, or less than one frame of drift over 48 hours, and an optional 3-unit kit, which includes a charging case that powers and syncs all three devices at once. The Saramonic TC-NEO supports multiple sync methods, providing flexibility across various workflows, and integrates with the Saramonic K9 wireless audio system, bringing timecode into a full location sound setup. Let’s take a closer look.

Saramonic is a global audio brand established in 2012, specializing in sound, pure and simple. Just last week, the Saramonic Air was released – a dual-channel, wireless microphone for quick shoots, which we discussed in the latest Focus Check podcast. Also released this year was the Saramonic K9 Audio System, which transmits in the ultra-wide UHF band instead of the typically used 2.4 GHz band.

Multiple syncing options

Up to 48 units can be paired wirelessly over Bluetooth using the Saramonic System app or synced with the K9 UHF audio system. If Bluetooth isn’t available, units can pair directly over local 2.4 GHz wireless, which can be useful in environments where phones aren’t permitted or battery life is limited. Wired jam sync is also supported via 3.5 mm input from an external source, and the TC‑NEO integrates with the K9 Audio System for users already working with that setup.

In addition to sync methods, the TC‑NEO offers three operational modes: Master Run, Auto Jam, and Jam Once and Lock. This gives users control over how timecode is maintained throughout the day. Up to eight user-selectable sync groups are supported, which can be helpful when working across multiple teams or parallel productions. The Bluetooth app offers remote control at distances up to 250 feet (76 meters), while 2.4GHz local syncing works reliably within a 40-meter range.

Built for precision

The TC‑NEO outputs SMPTE‑12M timecode (based on the SMPTE-12M standard) as either linear LTC or audio TC and is compatible with most cameras and recorders. A locking 3.5 mm TRS cable is included for standard connections, while optional adapters, such as BNC, LEMO, USB-C, or Sony Multi, are also available. It handles a broad range of production frame rates, including 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 29.97DF, 30, 47.95, 48, 50, 59.94, 59.94DF, and 60 fps, making it adaptable to both cinematic and broadcast workflows.

The unit features a built-in microphone that records ambient reference audio to the right track while sending timecode to the left, providing a natural sync point in post when needed (when working with claps, slates, or other visual cues, this can be quite helpful). The internal TCXO is rated at a remarkably accurate ±0.05 ppm, resulting in less than one frame of drift over 48 hours, which places it among the more precise compact timecode generators currently available.

Display and controls

The TC‑NEO features a front-facing 1.1-inch OLED screen that displays sync status, battery level, frame rate, and other basic information. Navigation is handled using a textured dial on the side of the unit, which lets you control the settings directly without requiring an app connection.

Unique charging kit

The Saramonic TC-NEO is available as a single unit or in a kit that includes a charging case for three. The case supplies power and syncs all three devices with the press of a button. Each TC‑NEO has a 1150 mAh lithium‑polymer battery for up to 22 hours of runtime. The 6000 mAh case battery can recharge all three units in about five hours and provides approximately 1.4 full charge cycles when used unplugged. With USB‑C passthrough, runtime extends up to 48 hours (the maximum when all three units are docked). This bundled charging and sync approach is unusual in timecode systems, which typically rely on individual charging and manual sync.

Included accessories and expandability

The kit ships with TRS-to-TRS and USB-C-to-USB-C connections, as well as two timecode cables that cover the most common use cases. For more advanced setups, additional cables are available separately. Mounting options include cold shoe adapters, threaded 1/4″-20 mounts, and adhesive hook-and-loop strips. Each device comes with a silicone sleeve for impact protection and quick identification (three are included in the kit, and five additional colors are sold separately).
