SmallHD FOCUS OLED is the new 5.5″ 1080p touchscreen on-camera monitor that will be presented during NAB 2018. It comes with either a Micro HDMI or SDI input and offers a variety of useful features.

SmallHD is well known for producing high quality on-camera monitors. Founded in 2009 it has made its name in the industry and counts as one of the innovators in the field of monitors. For this year’s NAB in Las Vegas SmallHD prepared a couple of new interesting products to complement their FOCUS series of monitors.
Notice the new FOCUS SDI monitor, which is basically the old FOCUS monitor with a full size SDI input instead of Micro HDMI, the new FOCUS Bolt TX and FOCUS Bolt RX monitors, which offer a lightweight, wireless workflow through having a built-in Teradek transmitter and receiver and last but not least the FOCUS OLED monitors. Take a look at the promotional video about the new NAB announcements.
The SmallHD FOCUS OLED is a 5.5″ 1920×1080 resolution camera-top monitor that combines the color and contrast performance of OLED technology with the convenience of a touchscreen user interface. It features a wide-color gamut display, edge-to-edge bonded glass, integrated battery slot and SmallHD Tilt Arm mounting solution.
Similar to the original SmallHD FOCUS monitor, the FOCUS OLED has the ability to power small DSLR and mirrorless cameras. With the Sony L Series battery users can power both the FOCUS OLED monitor and their camera, thanks to the monitor’s 7.2 Volt power output. I can imagine this could be an interesting and lightweight solution to complement the tiny internal battery of the Sony a7 series for instance.
The SmallHD FOCUS OLED is available with either a Micro HDMI input or a full-size SDI input. The monitor is equipped with SmallHD’s OS3 software suite. That means the tools like Waveform, Vectorscope, False Color and Focus Assist are quickly accessible and completely customizable. The monitor also conveniently offers an SD card slot for loading real-time 3D LUTs.
Pricing and availability – The SmallHD FOCUS OLED HDMI has an MSRP of $699 and should be available from April 30. The SDI version has an MSRP of $799 and should be available from May 31.
If you are at NAB and want to know more about their new monitors, you can find SmallHD in their outside booth OE5098 (outside across from the beer garden). On Monday 9th April at 2pm SmallHD will host a monitor giveaway. For a chance to win one you need to come by early on Monday to register.
