Wooden Camera Canon C300 Mark II PL Modification Kit

Wooden Camera PL mount kits are gradually expanding, now announcing the shipment of their Canon C300 Mark II PL modification kit.

Trusted third party supplier Wooden Camera has stocked PL mount kits for a while, most popular probably for Blackmagic and RED systems.

Around NAB time we saw venture into more unmarked territory in providing user switchable lens mounts for cameras like the Panasonic EVA1 and Canon C200.

The latter was particularly interesting in that in something of a first – a DIY lens modification kit for a camera with (as far as most of us were concerned) a permanent lens mount.

The new Canon C300 Mark II PL Modification Kit is probably Wooden Cameras most notable product in this sector, a unique product for a fairly staple industry camera system.

The below demo video shows the relative ease of switching your EF mount C300 Mark II to the Wooden Camera PL mount:

A few screws plus picking the correct shim from the selection provided.

The ability to easily interchange lens mount systems has always been a huge plus for the short flange distance Sony E-mount – one of the reasons the Sony FS7 has gained so much popularity within the industry.

We always knew it was physically possible for Canon EOS Cinema Cameras– you can choose which mount (EF or PL) you want when purchasing your C300 Mark II; you can also send it in to Canon to have it changed.

Wooden Camera just made it easy to do at home. Yes, you’ll need a back focus calibration tool, but any good rental house with a service department will have one, so it would just be a case of reaching out to one of them.

Price for the C300 Mark II PL Modification Kit is below.

Wooden Camera offer a service package for the Panasonic EVA1 PL mod kit, it remains to be seen whether the same will apply here, the EVA1 mod is substantially more complicated to do at home, so go figure.
