7Artisans 24mm F/1.4 Affordable Manual APS-C Prime Lens Released

7Artisans recently released a highly affordable manual prime lens for APS-C mirrorless cameras: the 7Artisans 24mm F/1.4. This lens is available in multiple lens mounts, including Sony E, Micro Four Thirds, FUJIFILM X, Nikon Z, and Canon RF/EOS-M mounts. So let’s take a closer look at this $109.00 prime lens!

Chinese lens manufacturer 7Artisans is mainly known for creating affordable, fast, and entirely manual photography lenses. However, last year, the company entered the cinema market with their Spectrum Full-Frame and Vision APS-C cinema lenses.

After the 35mm F/0.95 prime lens for APS-C cameras, 7Artisans is back with another fully manual lens: the 24mm F/1.4.

7Artisans 24mm F/1.4 – features

The 7Artisans 24mm F/1.4 is a compact and lightweight prime lens made entirely of metal. The lens weighs only 344g/12.13oz for a length of around 65mm/2.5in.

This prime lens is fully manual – focus and aperture – and the aperture ring is de-clicked, which is handy when shooting video. The lens is available in various mounts, including Sony E, FUJIFILM X, Canon M, Canon RF, Nikon Z, and MFT mounts. However, this 24mm lens only covers APS-C image sensors.

Lens design

The lens design of this 24mm F/1.4 consists of 7 elements in 6 groups, including two ED low-dispersion and two HR high-refraction elements to reduce chromatic aberrations. The aperture diaphragm has nine blades, and the minimum focusing distance is 30cm/11.8in. Lastly, the front filter size is 49mm.

Price and availability

The 7Artisans 24mm F/1.4 is available now for $109.00. At this price point, 7Artisans is competing against themselves, and the closest one would be the Nikon NIKKOR Z DX 24mm F/1.7 lens that retails for $276.
