Astera Light-Shaping Accessory Kit for LunaBulb Explained

Astera LunaBulb is a compact light, designed to look exactly like a traditional lightbulb. The LunaBulb is designed to be used as a prop, shown in the frame. Unlike traditional lightbulbs, it boasts a full RGB color spectrum, output adjustment, and remote control. Since its launch, the Astera team has received many requests for additional control options. These led to the development of accessories and an Astera LunaBulb accessory kit.

The Astera LunaBulb accessory kit builds on this innovative little lamp. You can find all the information about LunaBulb in this article by my colleague Jeff Loch.

The accessory kit broadens the spectrum of the LunaBulb. While its key function is based on its bare-bones look, mimicking a traditional lightbulb, it can do so much more. So, on the show floor at IBC 2024, we stopped by Astera’s booth to find out more!

What’s in the LunaBulb accessory kit?

The LunaBulb accessory kit consists of six different units, some are linkable, to create additional possibilities:

• LunaReflector – Focuses the light, magnifies it, and acts as a modular base.
• LunaDiffuser – Attaches to the LunaReflector to diffuse light. Together, they also mimic the physical shape of the popular Astera NYX.
• LunaLens – a flat diffusion lens attached to the LunaReflector, resembling a Par16 look.
• LunaSnoot – attaches to the LunaReflector, cutting the light leaking from the sides.
• LunaShade with Blocker – attaches to the lunaBulb, cutting the light from half of it.
• LunaShade with Diffuser – does the same, but diffuses rather than blocks the light.

The full kit will include four units of each accessory, except the LunaDiffuser which will have two blockers and two diffusers. Specific units are also available separately as a 4-piece bundle.

LunaBulb accessory kit – compact creativity

The LunaBulb accessory kit is a welcome addition to the LunaBulb ecosystem. Controlled by either the Astera Prep inlay or via wireless control, these little lights can truly make a difference in one’s creative process. Just bear in mind it’s a 3.3W fixture, so don’t expect it to be your only keylight.

Price and availability

The pricing of the Astera LunaBulb accessory kit has yet to be determined but should be published soon. Shipping should start at the end of September.
