Adobe is extending its flagship video editing software to iPhone, offering filmmakers and mobile creators a fast, free, and ad-free app that merges pro-grade editing with generative AI and cross-device workflows. Here’s all we know about Premiere for iPhone. The new Premiere for iPhone marks Adobeβs most ambitious mobile push yet, following earlier releases like Photoshop for iOS and Premiere Rush. Available for pre-order starting today from the App Store and launching September 30, the app aims to give users professional editing tools directly on their phones while keeping projects compatible with Premiere Pro on desktop.
Premiere for iPhone brings the multi-track timeline many editors know from Premiere Pro, complete with color-coded tracks and dynamic audio waveforms. Creators can trim, layer, and fine-tune with frame-accurate precision, while the app supports unlimited video, audio, and text layers, plus 4K HDR footage.
Automatic captions with stylized subtitles are built in, alongside one-tap exports to TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram. Adobeβs auto-resize feature keeps the main subject framed across aspect ratios, easing delivery for multiple platforms.
The iPhone app goes beyond traditional editing by embedding Adobe Firefly. Users can generate images, audio, or even video assets with text prompts, or choose from millions of stock photos, stickers, fonts, and music tracks. Firefly also powers new voice-driven sound effects and studio-quality voiceovers, enhanced with Adobeβs βEnhance Speechβ feature to reduce background noise in noisy locations.
Premiere for iPhone is free to download and use, without ads or watermarks. Additional costs only apply for generative AI credits and cloud storage. An Android version is in development, though no release date has been announced.
Adobeβs move comes as competition intensifies in the short-form creator market. Apps like Metaβs Edits and of course CapCut already targeted TikTok and Shorts producers. By putting Premiereβs core functions on iPhone, Adobe is betting that creators will want a single ecosystem that scales from quick social posts to full-length films edited in Premiere Pro.
For filmmakers and content creators, the ability to capture, edit, and publish without leaving the phone β and still hand off projects to desktop for fine-tuning β makes Premiere for iPhone a notable step in unifying mobile and professional post-production.
And in case you missed it, we have a short beginners course to Adobe Premiere Pro (for the desktop version), as well as a 25+ hours super-detailed pro course for Premiere Pro on our education platform MZed.
Do you see yourself using Premiere on your phone for quick edits, or will it remain a companion tool to the desktop version?
