Apple has unveiled Apple Creator Studio, a new subscription service that bundles Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Motion, Compressor, and MainStage alongside premium features for Keynote, Pages, and Numbers, offering filmmakers and content creators access to the company’s full suite of professional creative applications for $12.99 per month or $129 per year.
The announcement marks a significant shift in how Apple delivers its professional creative tools, though the company is maintaining one-time purchase options for those who prefer permanent licenses. For video professionals who have long appreciated Final Cut Pro’s magnetic timeline and Apple silicon optimization, the subscription model introduces new flexibility while adding substantial AI-powered features across the board. Final Cut Pro has seen significant updates in recent versions, including the AI-powered Magnetic Mask feature we reviewed.
Apple Creator Studio brings together applications that span video editing, music production, image editing, and productivity. The core offering includes Final Cut Pro for Mac and iPad, Logic Pro for Mac and iPad, and Pixelmator Pro for Mac and, for the first time, iPad. The subscription also unlocks Motion for motion graphics and compositing, Compressor for custom output settings, and MainStage for live performance setups.
Beyond the dedicated creative applications, subscribers gain access to new intelligent features and premium content in Keynote, Pages, Numbers, and eventually Freeform. This positions Apple Creator Studio as a comprehensive creative toolkit rather than simply a video editing subscription.
Final Cut Pro receives several notable updates that should accelerate common editing workflows. These new features join existing Final Cut Pro 11 capabilities like Magnetic Mask for AI-powered subject isolation, Transcribe to Captions, and the recently added adjustment clips. Transcript Search allows editors to find specific soundbites across hours of footage by typing phrases into the search bar. The feature analyzes dialogue and returns exact or related results, making it considerably faster to locate specific moments in interview or podcast footage. This feature requires Apple silicon on Mac or an M1-equipped iPad.
Visual Search takes a similar approach for visual content, using AI to let editors search for objects or actions within their footage. Need to find every shot containing a specific prop or a particular type of movement? Visual Search should make that process significantly faster than scrubbing through timelines manually.
Beat Detection brings Logic Pro’s audio analysis capabilities into the video editing environment. The feature analyzes music tracks and displays a Beat Grid showing beats, bars, and song sections directly in the timeline. For editors creating fast-paced content synced to music, this visual feedback should simplify the process of aligning cuts to rhythm.
Final Cut Pro for iPad gains Montage Maker, an AI-powered tool that analyzes footage and assembles a dynamic edit based on the visual highlights within clips. Users can adjust pacing, cut to music, and use Auto Crop to reframe horizontal footage for vertical delivery. While seasoned editors may find limited use for automated assembly, the feature could accelerate rough cut creation for social media content.
Logic Pro’s updates focus on making music creation more accessible while adding sophisticated AI capabilities. Synth Player joins the existing AI Session Player lineup, delivering electronic music performances with chordal and synth bass parts. Developed using Apple’s in-house sound design team, Synth Player works with Logic’s software instruments and can also control third-party Audio Units or external hardware synthesizers.
Chord ID addresses a common workflow bottleneck by analyzing audio or MIDI recordings and automatically generating chord progressions. The feature can parse complex harmonic content and populate Logic Pro’s chord track, which then drives Session Player performances. This integration means users can quickly experiment with different players, styles, and genres built on the same chord foundation.
The new Sound Library introduces Apple-designed packs and Producer Packs containing royalty-free loops, samples, instrument patches, and drum sounds. Logic Pro for iPad gains Quick Swipe Comping from the Mac version, alongside Music Understanding features that enable natural language search within the Sound Browser.
Pixelmator Pro’s iPad debut represents a significant expansion for the image editing application. The iPad version offers a touch-optimized workspace with full Apple Pencil support, including hover, squeeze, and double-tap functionality on compatible stylus models. Users can work between iPad and Mac while accessing the same editing toolset.
The iPad version includes the full Layers sidebar for building designs with images, shapes, text, and video elements. Smart selection tools, bitmap and vector masks, and features like Super Resolution for upscaling and Deband for removing compression artifacts are all present. For digital artists, the painting tools support pressure-sensitive brushes optimized for Apple Pencil.
Both Mac and iPad versions gain a new Warp tool for manipulating layers, along with product mockup templates that leverage the Warp functionality.
Keynote, Pages, and Numbers gain access to Content Hub, a curated collection of photos, graphics, and illustrations. Subscribers unlock premium templates and themes across all three applications.
Apple is adding generative image creation using OpenAI models, allowing users to create images from text descriptions or transform existing images. On-device AI enables Super Resolution for upscaling images while maintaining detail, and Auto Crop provides intelligent composition suggestions.
Keynote subscribers can access beta features for generating presentation drafts from text outlines, creating presenter notes from existing slides, and cleaning up slide layouts. Numbers gains Magic Fill, which generates formulas and fills tables based on pattern recognition.
These applications will continue receiving updates for all users, with the latest versions adopting the Liquid Glass visual design language and supporting new windowing and menu bar improvements in iPadOS 26.
Apple Creator Studio launches on Wednesday, January 28, for $12.99 per month or $129 per year. New subscribers receive a one-month free trial, and customers purchasing a new Mac or qualifying iPad can claim three months free.
Education pricing offers substantial savings at $2.99 per month or $29.99 per year for college students and educators. Up to six family members can share all applications and content through Family Sharing.
One-time purchase options remain available on the Mac App Store: Final Cut Pro for $299.99, Logic Pro for $199.99, Pixelmator Pro for $49.99, Motion for $49.99, Compressor for $49.99, and MainStage for $29.99. This preserves the traditional licensing model that many professionals have relied upon since Final Cut Pro X launched in 2011.
System requirements vary by application. The Apple Creator Studio version of Final Cut Pro for Mac requires macOS 15.6 or later on Intel or Apple silicon Macs, with some features requiring Apple silicon. Final Cut Pro for iPad requires an A16, A17 Pro, or M1 chip or later with iPadOS 18.6 or later. Pixelmator Pro for iPad requires iPadOS 26 on compatible hardware. Logic Pro for Mac requires Apple silicon with macOS 15.6 or later, while Logic Pro for iPad requires iPadOS 26 with an A12 Bionic chip or later.
