Chinese manufacturer Aputure just released the new INFINIBAR Light System. It consists of 3 different RGBWW full-color LED pixel bars: 30 cm/1ft PB3 for $299, 60 cm/2ft PB6 for $479 and 120 cm/4ft PB12 for $639, as well as a wide variety of different accessories and connectors, creating new possibilities for lighting design. Let’s have a closer look!
You might be familiar with the Aputure daylight LED COB (Chip On Board) fixture, or the MT Pro Lighting series. In case you missed it, my colleague Graham Sheldon reviewed the MT Pro tube lights last year, and also the Aputure LS 1200d Pro. Now Aputure introduced the INFINIBAR – a unique solution for light design.
The INFINIBAR Pixel Bars are Aputure’s first RGBWW full-color LED pixel bars. The most unique feature is the ability to link multiple INFINIBARs together using 10 differently-shaped connectors to design creative shapes and effects.
Users can operate multiple INFINIBARs using one power supply when linked by the power-sharing connectors or use their internal batteries for greater versatility. The pixel bar’s infinite blending design also eliminates visible gaps between fixtures to create seamless pixelated effects.
Featuring advanced wireless connectivity the pixels can be grouped and controlled via Sidus Link, LumenRadio CRMX, or through wired DMX using Aputure’s USB-C to DMX Adapter. It also incorporates critical color controls (including advanced HSI with white-point adjustability, RGB, and xy) for creative freedom. Toggle between 9 built-in System FX and 7 built-in Pixel FX including color fade, color cycle, one pixel chase, two pixel chase, three pixel chase, rainbow, and pixel fire. It can also save up to 20 custom FX in the Sidus Link app for easy access to different light modes.
The RGBWW chipset produces a color quality throughout its wide CCT range of 2,000K to 10,000K with full green-magenta adjustment, and can reproduce >90% of colors within the Rec.2020 Color Space. The INFINIBAR bars can also produce accurate skin tones, measuring scores of CRI: 96+, TLCI: 98+, SSI (D56): 74, and SSI (Tungsten): 85.
All three models come with a built-in Lithium battery in different sizes, making it a versatile and compact fixture for your lighting toolkit. The bars can achieve a full charge in approximately 2,5 hours at 24V/2,67A. Each bar also features DC power passthrough so users can power multiple fixtures using a single power supply.
Each fixture features a rail mounting system on the rear panel for mounting flexibility. Using the included a clamp to baby pin adapter, a baby pin may be placed at any point along the rail, which gives users a variety of additional mounting options. In addition, all bars have integrated magnets on their rear panels, allowing users to place them on any magnetic surfaces.
For all three LED pixel bars sizes there are two different light modifiers available. The Softbox is a rectangular soft light modifier that diffuses and softens light output, as a key or fill light for illuminating subjects such as people or products.
The 45º Light Control Grid is designed specifically to limit the beam spread of the LED pixel bar. This modifier controls the beam angle to 45° and reduces unwanted spill light, without significantly increasing the footprint and transforms the bar into a more directional light source.
One of the INFINIBAR’s most unique features is the ability to connect multiple bars together using 10 differently shaped connectors to create unique flat or 3D lighting shapes and designs. You can purchase a Multi-Light Shaping Kit, but each connector is also available individually.
