EDIT: Part 2 of our documentary is now online: Watch it by clicking here.

The FUJIFILM GFX 100 was officially introduced during May 2019 (See our First Impression and Sample Footage article here), and we were lucky enough to document parts of the process of bringing this camera to realisation by following the FUJIFILM team for a considerable amount of time.

For the last 8 months, FUJIFILM was kind enough to let us closely monitor the birth of their new flagship large format sensor creation, the GFX 100. For that specific project, we traveled to Japan several times and are now proud to present the outcome to you. This is the first of the two-part documentary we have created. The idea was to bring our filming community a unique behind-the-scenes look into the camera creation process and also get to know the people behind that, their dilemmas, challenges, and emotions (This is also the right place to thank the FUJIFILM staff that participated in the film).

– In part 1 we follow the process of designing the camera.

– In the up comping part 2, please join me when I visit the factory where the camera is actually being made.

Full disclosure: This project was initiated by cinema5D. FUJIFILM (Alongside many other distinguished manufacturers) is running a paid banner campaign on our site, which of course helps us finance our day-to-day operations – nevertheless,  the production cost of this documentary was fully self-funded by cinema5D.
