Iconik by Backlight and Eddie AI have announced a new integration that connects Iconik’s media asset management platform with Eddie AI’s AI-assisted editing workflow. The idea is fairly straightforward: teams can move selected media and proxies from Iconik into Eddie AI, generate logs, selects, topic-based stringouts, bins, and rough cuts, then export editable sequences to NLEs such as Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve. Let’s have a look.
We recently covered Eddie AI at NAB 2026, where CEO and Co-Founder Shamir Allibhai showed us the company’s v3 release and Night Shift workflow. That update focused on helping editors get from raw footage to a structured rough cut more quickly, especially with interview-based projects, multicam material, and longer edits. We also met with Shamir at this year’s Cine Gear 2026, where Johnnie had a chance to discuss why Eddie is being built as a teammate rather than another editing platform. This new Iconik integration extends that idea into a larger media management environment.
For teams already using Iconik to manage media across cloud or on-prem storage, the integration adds a more direct bridge into editorial preparation. Iconik remains the place where media is stored, organized, and managed, while Eddie AI adds a layer of editorial structure before the footage reaches the NLE.
For teams dealing with large amounts of interviews, B-roll, events, podcasts, brand films, or archival footage, this could make the first stage of editing less manual. Instead of sorting through a large media library from scratch, editors can begin with a more organized starting point.
As Shamir pointed out at Cine Gear this year, Eddie AI is not positioned as a replacement for creative editing. In this case, the integration is more about removing some of the slower preparation work, especially on footage-heavy projects where logging and first assemblies can take a lot of time.
Once Eddie AI creates the rough cut, the sequence can be exported to Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, with clips relinked back to Iconik. That keeps the media management side connected while still allowing the final edit to happen inside a professional NLE.
The Eddie AI and Iconik integration is available through Eddie AI’s Iconik workflow. You can find Eddie AI pricing here and Iconik pricing here. For more information or to give it a try, please visit the Eddie AI website.
Eddie AI says user files remain private and confidential, and that it does not train on users’ content, files, or data.
Would this kind of MAM to rough cut workflow save time on your projects, or would you still prefer to begin directly in your NLE? Let us know in the comments below.

A camera was put in my hands at 16, and I’ve been taking photographs ever since. Before moving to Vienna, I worked as a photographer on film sets, telling stories as they unfolded behind the scenes. Since then, I’ve focused on immersive theater, both as a photographer and an actor. I am the photographer for the award-winning Nesterval ensemble, documenting the energy and atmosphere of their performances. I’m a teller of stories. Stories hold my interest. I’ll take on any project with a story to tell.
