Freewell DJI Mavic 3 ND Filters and Wide Angle/Anamorphic Lenses Kit Introduced

Freewell DJI Mavic 3 ND Filters and Wide Angle/Anamorphic Lenses Kit Introduced

Freewell recently released a kit for the DJI Mavic 3 that consists of a wide-angle and anamorphic lens as well as a series of dedicated ND filters. The lenses cover the “main” Hasselblad camera, not the telephoto one. Then, the ND filters attach to the lenses and are compatible with both DJI Mavic 3 cameras. Let’s take a closer look at all these new products!

Chinese third-party accessories manufacturer Freewell is well-known for making good price/quality filters for various cameras like the DJI Action 2 and, more recently, their magnetic VND Filter Kit that we reviewed. Now, Freewell is back with an entire lineup of products dedicated to DJI’s flagship drone, the Mavic 3.

Freewell DJI Mavic 3 wide-angle and anamorphic lenses

Let’s start with the core of this Freewell DJI Mavic 3 lineup of accessories: the wide-angle and anamorphic lenses. These lenses replace the stock protection filter that comes with your drone. Both the lenses and filters are scratch/dust resistant and have a coating that helps cleaning fingerprints. Also, all products come with a lifetime warranty, so you’re covered even if you crash your drone.

The wide-angle lens will give you a field of view of 125°, compared to the stock 84° from the 24mm lens. On the other side, if you want to create more “cinematic” drone footage, the 1.18x anamorphic lens is your go-to choice. However, as the DJI Mavic 3 does not have a built-in image de-squeeze mode, the anamorphic lens will distort your preview image. Therefore, you’ll have to de-squeeze your images in post-production to get the final result.

Freewell DJI Mavic 3 kit: ND filters

The Freewell ND filters that come with this kit are available in various strengths: ND8, ND16, ND32, and ND64. The ND filters attach directly to the wide-angle or anamorphic lens. As these ND filters are part of a kit, you can’t connect them directly to the Mavic 3 without a Freewell lens. But, Freewell also has dedicated ND Filters sets for the DJI Mavic 3.
