GUTEK Expands Protector Case Lineup With Yellow and Azure Blue Color Options

GUTEK has expanded its Protector Case lineup with two new color options for both the T-230 and T-300 models. The 16-inch T-230 and 20-inch wheeled T-300 cases are now available in vibrant Yellow and Azure Blue, joining the existing Black and Olive Drab Green options that launched at NAB 2024.

The GUTEK Protector Cases, part of NANLITE’s sub-brand focused on protective gear solutions, combine IP67-rated protection with tortoise shell-inspired construction. Since our first look at NAB 2024, the cases have proven popular with filmmakers and gaffers who need lightweight protection without sacrificing interior space.

Why new colors matter

The addition of Yellow and Azure Blue addresses practical workflow needs beyond aesthetics. The high-visibility Yellow option makes cases immediately identifiable in crowded production environments, busy airport baggage claims, or outdoor locations where gear visibility matters for safety. Azure Blue offers a more refined appearance for studio settings, corporate environments, or home offices where the traditional tactical aesthetic of black or olive cases might feel out of place.

Both new finishes use the same modified polypropylene material construction as the original colors, maintaining the V-2 flame-retardant rating and IP67 dust and water resistance. The color expansion gives crews more options to organize gear by department, differentiate between identical equipment sets, or simply match personal preference without compromising protection standards.

Construction and protection

The T-230 and T-300 utilize injection molding techniques that balance structural strength with weight reduction. The tortoise shell-inspired design philosophy translates to a ribbed exterior pattern that distributes impact forces while minimizing material bulk. This approach keeps the T-230 at just 2.77kg/6.11lb empty, with the larger T-300 weighing 5.16kg/11.38lb despite its wheeled configuration.

Both cases feature press-pull latches designed to prevent accidental opening and finger pinching during operation. Stainless steel lock holes accommodate padlocks for additional security during shipping or storage. A waterproof purge valve automatically equalizes air pressure, preventing vacuum seal issues when traveling between different elevations or temperature zones.

The IP67 rating ensures complete dust protection and water resistance up to 1 meter depth for 30 minutes. This makes the cases suitable for desert shoots, ocean spray exposure, or rapid weather changes without requiring additional protective wrapping.

Interior organization options

The T-230 offers 23L of interior volume with dimensions of 41.7 × 32 × 17.9cm/16.4 × 12.6 × 7.0 inches, accommodating everything from cinema cameras with lenses to LED panel kits. The compact footprint maintains carry-on compatibility for most airlines while maximizing usable space through efficient wall thickness and corner radius design.

The T-300 steps up to 30L capacity with internal dimensions of 51.5 × 30 × 18cm/20.3 × 11.8 × 7.1 inches. The 20-inch form factor includes a retractable handle and durable wheels, transforming the case from hand-carried protection to rolling transport for longer airport walks or location moves. The handle deploys and retracts via a button mechanism positioned for easy one-handed operation.

Both models include lid and bottom foam layers that provide cushioning around equipment perimeters. Users can customize foam configuration by cutting channels for specific gear layouts or purchase pre-cut foam sets optimized for particular equipment types. The stackable design allows multiple cases of the same model to nest securely for efficient storage in trucks or equipment rooms.

GUTEK offers a specialized T-230 configuration specifically designed for eight NANLITE PavoTube II 6XR fixtures. This version accommodates the tubes, modifiers, mounting accessories, and includes integrated charging capability for all eight fixtures simultaneously, eliminating the need to unpack lights for battery maintenance between shoots.

Optional accessories expand functionality

Beyond the included foam, GUTEK provides several accessories that adapt cases to different workflows. The Motion Sensor LED Light (AS-MSL) automatically illuminates case interiors when opened in low light conditions, useful for dawn calls or night shoots. Additional foam sets (AS-FS-T230 and AS-FS-T300) allow users to maintain different packing configurations for various jobs without repacking between gigs.

The T-300 specific accessories include a Divider Kit (AS-DV-T300) for compartmentalizing smaller items, Extra Divider units (AS-EDV-T300) to expand organization options, and a Lid Organizer (AS-LO-T300) that transforms dead space in the lid into useful storage for cables, batteries, or documentation.

The T-230 and T-300 share several core specifications across all four color options. Both utilize modified polypropylene housing with V-2 flame-retardant rating and support a maximum load capacity of 40kg/88.18lb. The materials resist extreme temperature ranges while maintaining structural integrity under impact loads that would crack or deform lesser cases.

The T-230 measures 41.7 × 32 × 17.9cm/16.4 × 12.6 × 7.0 inches internally with 23L/0.81ft³ volume, while the T-300 provides 51.5 × 30 × 18cm/20.3 × 11.8 × 7.1 inches of interior space with 30L/1.06ft³ capacity. Weight specifications place the T-230 at 2.77kg/6.11lb empty and the T-300 at 5.16kg/11.38lb before equipment loading.
