Hohem has introduced the iSteady V3 Ultra, a compact smartphone gimbal that combines three-axis stabilization and AI tracking in a smaller, travel-friendly design. The package includes a detachable touchscreen remote with live feed monitoring, a built-in 205mm extension rod, and a three-color fill light.

Following the recent release of the Hohem iSteady M7, the V3 Ultra is positioned as a smaller, more portable option. It is designed for content creators who want stable footage from their smartphone without relying on app-based tracking, while keeping their setup light and flexible.

At 428g (0.94 lb), the iSteady V3 Ultra is compact enough to slip into any bag. It folds down to just over 16cm (6,2 in) in height, and it includes a 205mm (8 in) extension rod plus tripod legs for group shots, overhead views, or simple locked-off setups.

Power comes from a 1600mAh battery that the company says can run up to nine hours in balanced use. With both AI tracking and fill light enabled, you can expect closer to four or five hours of use. A full recharge via USB-C takes approximately 2.5 hours.

Tracking options and remote

The V3 Ultra’s AI system is trained to recognize people, pets, vehicles, and objects. Unlike many app-dependent systems, it runs on its own module, so it does not eat into your phone’s processor. Gestures can start or stop recording, switch between portrait and landscape, or trigger a countdown photo.

Its detachable 3.1cm (1.22 in) touchscreen remote adds another level of control. From up to ten meters (32,8 feet) away, it shows a live feed, lets you frame and adjust your composition, and handles settings for gimbal modes, the joystick, and the fill light. For creators who often shoot alone, that combination makes life easier.

The obvious competition

Earlier this year, DJI released their Osmo Mobile 7 and 7P, featuring a modular design and DockKit tracking for iPhone 13 and newer. While this approach is polished, it also remains limited to Apple’s ecosystem.

Hohem is taking a different approach by offering universal AI tracking that works across apps and devices. It is not meant to replace DJI’s higher-end stabilizers, but it does give smartphone shooters another option.

The intended user

While the iSteady V3 Ultra is aimed at content creators working with smartphones, many vloggers, livestreamers, and solo shooters may find its AI tracking, remote monitoring, and extension rod especially useful.

On paper, it brings plenty of features, including three-axis stabilization, a touchscreen remote, and a compact foldable design. With so many gimbals already on the market, the real question is how well it performs in everyday shooting.
