Marshall Electronics Factory Tour. New 5" HDMI Monitor

May 13th, 2010

I got the chance to go down to El Segundo, California and visit the Marshall Electronics Factory. I have been a fan of their 7″ HDMI monitor for quite some time. The image quality and killer functions (False Color, Peaking Filter, Etc.) have always worked well for  my HDSLR needs. The new Marshall 5″ V-LCD50-HDMI is really meant for the HDSLR user. The most prominent feature of the 5″, is the size. It is considerably smaller than the  Marshall V-LCD70XP-HDMI. The next great feature is that is runs on four “AA” batteries. This slim profile keeps the monitor balanced if wearing it on the hot shoe mount. It weighs next to nothing. I see a 5″ on camera with a 7″ director’s monitor working very well in almost any situation. Now if I could just get my hands on one of those 17″ bad boys, the house would really be rocking. Team C5D cameraman Hunter Kerhart hooked up the edit.

The 5″ HDMI estimated street price will be around $600 US. Availability could be within the next few months.

As mentioned in this link in the table near the bottom of the page “loop-through outputs”: http://www.lcdracks.com/monitors/v-lcd70p-hdmi.html

Doesn’t the LCD70XP-HDMI already have pass-through? Meaning you can plug in another monitor with component/composite. Anyone in a position to test that?

Ah, okay. The input has to be component/composite as well for pass-through to work. Too bad.

By The way – I’d like to publicly apologize to Galexa and other members of this forum for my Rash and emotional response to forum moderation. It would be a great honor if I was allowed back on the boards and I think I could prove to be a great asset to this community. I hope Galexa and other moderators will consider this and allow me back here formally.
