Movmax Φ45 Car Mounting System Launched

Chinese manufacturer Movmax recently launched their Φ45 Car Mounting System that allows you to attach heavy payloads to most cars. This system consists of suction cups, 45mm diameter aluminum tubes, and tube lockers/connectors that you can mount on all sides of your vehicle. Let’s take a closer look at it!

We first reported about Movmax products last year, when they introduced their MUTO3000 electric film tricycle and the N2 Arm air/hydraulic shock-absorbing system.

The N2 Arm consists of a shock-absorbing arm and an isolator, and can take payloads up to 90lbs/40kg. While you can attach this arm to any standard tube, the company has recently released their own Φ45 car mounting system that can take payloads up to 286lbs/130kg.

Movmax Φ45 Car Mounting System features

The Movmax Φ45 car mounting system is relatively common, as it consists of:

  • Four suction cups with tube lockers
  • Several aluminum pipes
  • Tube connectors and tube lockers
  • Specific accessories like a tow hook connector or a trail hitch connector

So, how does this kind of car mounting system work? It’s pretty simple: you mount the suction cups to one/multiple sides of your vehicle and then connect the pipes together to create a rigid structure.

Lastly, you connect your camera rig or shock-absorbing arm to one tube, and you’re ready to go!

Maximum payload capacity

The Movmax Φ45 car mounting system can be mounted to your car’s front, back, and sides.

According to the company, the least maximum payload capacity the system can take is 176lbs/80kg on the side doors.

However, if you attach the system to the back of your car using the trail hitch connector, you can put up to 286lbs/130kg at the end of the pipes, which is impressive.

Price and availability

The Movmax Φ45 Car Mounting System is available now for $2,199. The kit comes in two flight cases with four suction cups, six aluminum tubes, five tube connectors, two tube lockers, a tow hook connector, wrenches, and a safety strap. This is very well priced for such a professional car mounting system.

If you’re using a DSLR/mirrorless/small cinema camera, a system like the Tilta Hydra Alien car mounting system that my colleague Nino reviewed might be a better or more affordable choice.
