Poll: Camera Accessories – Which Brand is Your Favorite?

Cameras and lenses are usually at the center of our polls, but today we want to step aside a bit and talk about “camera accessories”. What do we define as camera accessories? Well, the sea is so vast, so let’s simplify: anything on the periphery – cages, tripods, sliders, matte boxes, filters, and so on – counts as supporting gear. Now, a HUGE selection of accessories from an endless number of companies is currently available, so for this poll, we narrowed it down to companies that make cages but offer much more beyond that. In other words, if a company produces accessories but does not make mirrorless/cine camera cages, their name won’t be included here. I would also like to apologize in advance if you don’t see your favorite accessory manufacturer. Just drop us a line, and we will take a close look at your suggestion.

Remember the days when camera accessories were prohibitively expensive? (At times, even more than the camera itself)… Well, those days are history since the appearance of the “DSLR revolution”. In my opinion, this moment marked a shift. People were refusing to pay more for support gear than for the camera itself. On top of that, a wave of Chinese manufacturers entered the market, initially offering products of just-OK quality. But it didn’t take long for some to refine their design, materials, and construction, eventually competing with, and in some cases surpassing, some of the recognized leading names in our industry at a more comfortable price. Also noticeable was the move from “copy/pasting” products to genuine innovation.

Another trend that we saw was filmmakers taking their camera destiny into their own hands, designing cages and other gear they couldn’t find off the shelf.

We collected a list of companies that, to the best of our knowledge, are recognized by many. And don’t forget, there are plenty of other names in this field. But for the purpose of this poll, having cages in their lineup was the key criterion to be included.
