We recently wondered how camera brands are distributed among our users. Some brands are innovating more than others. Are you planning to switch your main camera brand within the next 12 months?
Innovation ebbs and flows: Every few years, some manufacturers leap ahead with camera specs, while others stagnate. “Underdog” companies offer more for the same price, while others seem to rest on their laurels.
We’re thinking 2025 might be a big year for cameras with strong growth despite tariff challenges in the US – but it’s also a year of hugely different feature sets in cameras from different manufacturers, even though they have a similar price tag. It seems like some manufacturers are really pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, while others are resting a bit more on their laurels.
If you’re not happy with your current camera, we’d love to hear about it. Are you considering switching brands/systems within the next 12 years?
Some remarks: Please note that we are only listing manufacturers of professional cameras here, and some minor manufacturers with small market shares might be missing from this list. This poll is, of course, predominantly targeted at video shooters, not photographers (as is most of our content.) We are also intentionally separating RED and Nikon, even though they are under the same company umbrella, we consider them still very different camera systems/brands.

We’re also really interested in your motivations and thoughts on the topic, and why you are switching camera brands (in case you are). Let us know in the comments below what could keep you loyal to your current manufacturer, or what made you switch to another one.
