2025 was a very busy year for most camera manufacturers, and we can conclude that with the camera selection currently on the market, there are no excuses not to go out and simply shoot.
As not all cameras are created equal or aimed at the same end user, our poll has been divided into categories. From cinema cameras to smartphones and everything in between, we hope you’ll find your favourite tool listed. In each category, we’re allowing multiple selections (two, to be exact), so if you love your camera but also respect what a competing company introduced this year, you can show your appreciation by selecting that camera too.

Johnnie Behiri is a documentary filmmaker with more than three decades behind the camera: he learned the craft in daily television news gathering, filmed for Japan's public broadcaster NHK, and spent eight years shooting and editing for BBC News. He joined cinema5D in 2011 and has co-owned and co-run CineD and MZed ever since. Johnnie writes many of CineD's camera reviews, co-hosts our weekly Focus Check podcast, and heads CineD's manufacturer relationships and product development.
