Believe it or not, it’s already June, and what a great time to briefly stop and look back, checking what cameras have been released so far, and not least, highlighting those models that impressed us the most.

Our beloved industry keeps moving forward with camera models that feature specifications that would’ve seemed impossible only a few years ago. It’s a gift to live in a time like this. And yet, sometimes I wonder if it has made us all a bit spoiled? Judging by the reactions to new releases, it’s easy to forget that, in the end, it’s “just” a tool. Do you like what it offers, and is the price right for your budget? If not, why not simply move on?

Anyway, “thinking positively” should be the attitude, and with this in mind, I have drafted below those camera models that were released in the last 6 months. If any model was overlooked, it may be that it was not on our radar at all, especially if the video capabilities of that camera were not enough to impress the crowd. On a side note, the ARRI Alexa 35 Base model and RED camera offerings with Z-mount were not included in this poll, as they are not new in themselves.

And as always, if you have a minute or two to spare, leaving a comment and sharing a few sentences about the camera that impressed you most would be great to see!
