RED Production Packs Introduced for V-RAPTOR [X], V-RAPTOR, and KOMODO-X with Updated Components

RED has just announced new accessory packs built around their KOMODO-X, V-RAPTOR, and V-RAPTOR [X] cinema camera systems. These include a few updated parts, such as a rigid-hinge mounting bracket for the DSMC3 RED Touch 7” LCD monitor, as well as a new top plate with a V-mount power adapter for V-RAPTOR.

RED’s pre-bundled packs are a great solution for studios and rental houses looking for a “ready-to-shoot” camera package that includes a monitor, batteries, media, and other useful bits of gear to get you up to speed in no time.

Accessory pack options for KOMODO-X, V-RAPTOR, and the flagship V-RAPTOR [X] and XL [X] are already available, but the company is now bringing a couple of improvements to some of the included accessories. Let’s take a look!

RED Production Packs for cinema cameras – updates

To start off, the DSMC3 RED Touch 7” camera control monitor included with some of the accessory bundles now comes with a sturdier, all-metal hinge mount. This component was introduced a few months ago as a replacement for the original design, which many users complained about. While the monitor’s capabilities stay the same, this small mechanical improvement can provide extra peace of mind, especially when shooting in hectic scenarios.

Moreover, the newly launched V-RAPTOR [X] Production Pack includes the new Tactical Top Plate with Battery Adapter Plus. This accessory actually consists of two main parts – a top plate with power capabilities and a V-mount battery adapter – that communicate via a Pogo connection interface.

The top plate has 1/4”-20 and 3/8”-16 mounting points for accessories and integrates two 2-pin AUX power outputs. The battery adapter allows you to mount larger V-mount batteries on the back of your V-RAPTOR, has a 6-pin DC-IN port, a D-Tap connection, and an E-Fuse safety system.

The new (or updated) RED Production Packs for V-RAPTOR XL [X], V-RAPTOR [X], V-RAPTOR, and KOMODO-X are now available to pre-order from B&H. Pricing starts at $14,995 for the KOMODO-X Production Pack and goes up to $54,995 for the V-RAPTOR XL [X] kit.

Finally, the updated RED DSMC3 Touch 7.0” LCD with Rigid-Hinge mount retails for $2,750, while the V-RAPTOR Tactical Top Plate with Battery Adapter Plus (V-mount) is priced at $1,798.
