SmallRig 36″ Lightweight Video Production Camera Cart Introduced

SmallRig is venturing into a new market by introducing their first 36″ lightweight video production camera cart. This cart has a maximum load capacity of up to 250kg/551.1 lbs, it features tool-free assembly, it weighs only 28kg/61.7 lbs, and thanks to its compact dimensions, it should fit into most cars’ trunks. So, let’s take a closer look at it!

Chinese filmmaking camera accessories manufacturer SmallRig started by making affordable camera cages and rigging accessories. Over the years, the company has expanded their product offerings to include a range of additional items, such as LED lights, smartphone accessories, tripods, camera batteries, and more. Notably, we discovered the XTouch Smart Triple Proof V-Mount battery at NAB 2025.

At CineGear 2025, we talked with Manny Moreno from SmallRig about their upcoming and first cart for filmmakers: the SmallRig 36″ lightweight video production camera cart.

SmallRig 36″ lightweight video production camera cart – features

As its name suggests, the SmallRig 36″ lightweight video production camera cart features a 36-inch workspace, and it has a maximum load capacity of up to 250kg/551.1 lbs. The top deck has a maximum capacity of 80kg/176.4 lbs, and the bottom deck has a maximum payload capacity of 170kg/374.8 lbs.

The 36″ size is relatively standard in the video production camera cart industry; smaller and larger ones do exist. Still, it’s a good compromise between size and weight, allowing for easy rolling on set, fitting in a regular car trunk, and navigating through doors or inside elevators. The cart measures 98 x 62 x 96.6cm/38.6 x 24.4 x 38.0in when fully deployed.

This SmallRig cart was designed in partnership with filmmaker and designer Ian Roche as part of the Dreamrig program. It features tool-free assembly with built-in quick-release casters and handrail, allowing setup in approximately 5 minutes. The cart is made out of aluminum and weighs 21kg/46.3 lbs without the 8″ pneumatic shock-absorbing caster wheels, and 28kg/61.7 lbs with them. The cart has fixed front casters, swivel rear casters for precise direction control, and integrated brakes.

On the cart, you’ll find over 200 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 mounting points with ARRI locating pins to attach and carry multiple accessories. Also, there are four 5/8″ baby pint mounts at all four corners of the cart.
