TTArtisan 35mm f/1.4 Tilt Lens for APS-C Mirrorless Cameras Introduced

TTArtisan has introduced a 35mm f/1.4 tilt lens for APS-C mirrorless cameras. It offers manual focus, up to 8° of tilt, and 360° rotation for adjusting the plane of focus in any direction. While it doesn’t include shift functionality, the tilt mechanism allows control over the focus plane, enabling effects like selective focus or the miniature look. It’s also being offered at the very low price of $169, so let’s dive in!

We have covered TTArtisan lenses before; we recently wrote about their 35mm T2.1 full-frame dual bokeh lens. With the introduction of the APS-C tilt prime, the company adds a new tool to their growing lineup of specialty lenses. This lens, when used with a strong tilt effect, can make real-world scenes look like miniatures (real houses into toys, cars to scale models, etc).

Two lenses in one

The TTArtisan 35mm F1.4 can also be used without the tilt like a conventional manual prime lens, offering a natural field of view on APS-C sensors with shallow depth of field at wide apertures and a smooth bokeh. The all-manual focus and declicked aperture ring make it suitable for both photography and video work.

Using the tilt lets you shift the focus plane, so it no longer runs parallel to the sensor. This means you can bring diagonal subjects into focus or isolate part of the frame in a more unusual way. The lens tilts up to 8° and can rotate a full 360°, with click stops every 15° to help you line things up quickly.

Build quality and handling

The TTArtisan Tilt 35mm F1.4 is a fully manual lens with an all-metal body and an optical design of 7 elements in 6 groups. It features a declicked aperture ring with a range from F1.4 to F16 and a 10-blade diaphragm.

Even with the tilt mechanism, the lens isn’t especially large or heavy. It weighs around 341g/12 oz and measures approximately 61–63mm/about 2.4–2.5 inches in length, depending on the mount. The tilt ring rotates with consistent tension and locks into place every 15°, which helps when aligning the tilt direction during setup or shooting. The minimum focus distance is 0.35 meters/1.1 feet, allowing for relatively close framing.

The lens is available in multiple mounts, including Sony E, Fujifilm X, Canon RF, Nikon Z, and Micro Four Thirds. Depending on the camera’s sensor size, the 35mm focal length provides a field of view roughly equivalent to 52–56mm on APS-C bodies, or around 70mm on Micro Four Thirds.
