VAXIS ATOM 600 KV for RED Komodo

The VAXIS ATOM 600 KV for RED’s Komodo has its own thread on Reduser. It will offer the following features and specifications:

  • up to 600ft (line-of-sight) transmission distance
  • up to 1080p video signal
  • <0.1s delay
  • SDI input (the Komodo only has an SDI video output)
  • SDI/HDMI output
  • app-enabled monitoring via iOS/Android (up to 4 receivers)
  • data encryption

The module is designed to be inserted in the Komodo’s dual Canon BP battery slots and provide a power pass-through for V-Lock batteries. According to VAXIS, the unit will have a built-in fan. It will come as a stand-alone TX or with a matched RX unit plus 4x iOS/Android connections.

The VAXIS ATOM 600 KV seems to be a cool product, as many people asked for an option to power the camera with standard V-Mount or Gold Mount batteries. It might also be a good option for people who want to get an HDMI monitor for the Komodo, as it offers an HDMI output.

Price and Availability

Currently, there is no information about the price or availability of the product. In fact, the RED Komodo itself does not have an exact release date and price yet. VAXIS said, they will debut the ATOM 600 KV at NAB 2020 at booth C7915, so we can expect more information in April.
