Nitze’s Affordable Cage for Atomos Shogun CONNECT Introduced

Nitze introduced a new cage for the Atomos Shogun CONNECT monitor and recorder unit. It is lightweight, versatile, and also quite affordable. The price for the cage starts at $100, the version with an additional V-mount adapter retails for $114, and the version with a sun hood included sales for $128. At this year’s NAB in Las Vegas, we had the chance to talk to Jayden Lee, COO of Nitze about the company in general and this new cage for the Atomos Shogun CONNECT. Let’s check it out!

Nitze is a manufacturer of camera accessories, established more than 10 years ago in Hong Kong, and they run their own factory to produce everything themselves. Nitze provides all sorts of camera gear and accessories, like camera cages for most of the popular brands from action cams to cine-style cams, and a full range of monitor cages as well. They also produce accessories like handles, follow focus systems, lens support, shoulder rigs, jib arms, tripods, and so on.

We had the chance to look closer at the new cage for the Atomos Shogun CONNECT, a wireless 7” reorder and monitor solution.

The cage is made of aluminum alloy and it is designed quite versatile. It has all sorts of mounting holes all around the body for additional accessories. It is compatible with Nato rail systems and can be mounted on a camera as well.

They are providing an optional adapter for V-mount batteries for the rear side of the unit, so you can run the Atomos Shogun CONNECT with a larger battery, as an alternative to the native NPF batteries. That adds some additional run time to the unit, but of course also a lot of weight with a larger battery.

At NAB we saw a setup as a director’s monitor, with two adjustable side handles and a swivel and tilt monitor holder on top, with an impressive payload of 3kg (6,6lb). Additionally, it had a cable clamp to organize the loose cables on the monitor unit. That is a very nice little feature that makes life a little easier for you, especially when you have a bit of a nervous director who does not pay attention to loose cables.
