LumaFusion for Android 2.5 Brings Head and Tail Transitions, Multi-Clip Editing, and APV Codec Support

LumaTouch has released LumaFusion for Android version 2.5, delivering a substantial workflow update that includes automatic head and tail transitions, multi-clip transition application, bidirectional media location tools, and support for Samsung’s Advanced Professional Video codec.

The Android version of LumaFusion continues its march toward feature parity with its iOS counterpart, and this update addresses several time-consuming tasks that mobile editors encounter daily. The LumaTouch development team has navigated the significant architectural differences between iOS and Android to bring these capabilities to the platform, and the results should resonate with editors who rely on their Android devices for professional video work.

Streamlined transition workflow

One of the most practical additions in version 2.5 is the Head and Tail Transitions feature. Users can now select a clip in the timeline, choose the Head and Tail Transition option from the menu, and a cross dissolve is instantly added to both the beginning and end of that clip. This eliminates the repetitive task of manually placing individual transitions when working with clips that need consistent entrance and exit effects.

The update also introduces the ability to apply transitions to multiple clips simultaneously. Editors can select as many clips as needed in the timeline, navigate to the Transitions Library, and double tap on any transition to have it applied to every selected clip at once. This batch approach to transition application can dramatically reduce editing time on projects with numerous cuts requiring consistent treatment.

Find selected clip in library

LumaFusion 2.5 adds a bidirectional media location feature that addresses a common editorial challenge. When working with complex timelines, editors often need to locate the original source file for a clip they are viewing in the timeline. The new Find Selected Clip in Library function allows users to select any clip on the timeline, navigate to the import media section, and instantly highlight the corresponding source file in the Media Library.

The feature works in reverse as well. Selecting a clip in the library and choosing Find Selected Clip in Timeline will highlight every instance where that media appears on the timeline. For projects with extensive media libraries or multiple uses of the same footage, this capability provides significant time savings during the review and revision process.

APV codec export support

Version 2.5 introduces support for the APV codec in LumaFusion’s Export Movie Settings. Advanced Professional Video is a modern, perceptually lossless video compression standard developed by Samsung for smartphone applications. The codec enables cinematic-quality video capture with approximately 20 percent less storage requirements compared to alternatives while maintaining professional-level fidelity.

APV supports high resolutions including 4K and 8K, bit depths ranging from 10 to 16 bit, and HDR content. The codec uses intra-frame encoding, which offers advantages for post-production editing workflows. For Android users working with Samsung devices that capture in APV format, this export option creates a more streamlined roundtrip workflow.
