Kondor Blue recently released their modular, lightweight cage for the Nikon ZR, featuring four removable sides to fit most shooting styles. So, if you’re looking for one of the most adaptable cages on the market for your ZR camera, let’s take a closer look!

The Nikon ZR was released in September 2025, and, to say the least, made quite a few waves on the Internet. Many third-party accessory manufacturers have already released their rigging solutions for Nikon’s mirrorless camera, including SmallRig, Tilta, XLCS, and Jaquet Niko, to name a few. American camera accessories manufacturer Kondor Blue is finally joining the party with its Nikon ZR cage.

Kondor Blue Nikon ZR cage – features

The Kondor Blue Nikon ZR cage consists of four individually removable parts. It is made out entirely of aluminum – except for the Ergo grip – and weighs 189g/6.7oz. At the base of the system is a bottom plate with a built-in Arca-Swiss plate.

The bottom plate doesn’t obstruct the memory card/battery compartment. It attaches to the bottom of the camera via one 1/4″-20 screw. It features multiple 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 threaded holes with anti-twist holes if you want to use your own quick-release plate, and a built-in slot for the included mounting tool.

The right-side plate features a built-in NATO rail with 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 mounting points, side strap loops, and an ergonomic rubber grip. This right-side plate attaches to the bottom plate and to the camera body’s strap loop for extra rigidity.

At the top is a NATO rail that attaches to the Nikon ZR’s hot shoe. This NATO rail features an M4 sensor plane marker and one 3/8″-16 mounting point.

Last but not least, the left side plate is similar to the right side plate, featuring a built-in NATO rail with 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 mounting points and anti-twist holes. However, it adds USB-C and micro HDMI cable protection clamps, which are handy to protect those fragile connectors on set.
