There’s an old photography adage: the best camera is the one you have with you. Well, Accsoon believes that the best monitor is the one you carry with you every day. Your iPhone! Building off the success of their original SeeMo and SeeMo Pro models, they enter the UHD realm and want to bring us along.

Much like the original SeeMo, the 4K version takes any HDMI input and allows the viewer to monitor and record to your device’s internal memory. Via the Accsoon See app, you can watch your footage with a high degree of color accuracy with all the bells and whistles one would expect from an on-camera monitor: focus assist, zebras, gridlines, histogram, overlays, false color, etc..

The device includes all of the great features users have come to enjoy from previous iterations. While users still get a small form factor that clamps to the back of their device, powered by an NP-F battery with an HDMI in port, there are many new updates to the model. The SeeMo 4K boasts some updated features, such as:

4K monitoring/recording at 2160p (UHD 4k 30) 23.98/24/25/29.97/30fps, 1080p (HD) up to 60fps, and 720p up to 60fps.

An SD card slot to offload your footage from your iPhone or iPad.

(2) Lightning and USB-C out ports, capable of charging your device over 5V 2.4 amps.

It’s important to note that the SeeMo series records to your iPhone or iPad’s internal memory, so you’d want to have a USB drive handy to offload footage if you’re going to be using this to film a short film or anything of any length. But the addition of an SD card on the SeeMo is going to be helpful to offload footage once your internal memory starts to get full. Especially at 4K, it won’t take too long to fill up even the higher-end iPhone models.

Price and Availability

The Accsoon SeeMo 4K is available right now for only $179, which seems crazy to me since the SeeMo HD was also $179 at release (right now you can find it for $159). Unlike the HD model, the 4K version seems to only come in black. It can also be paired with other Accsoon products, such as the Power Cage for your iPad Pro.
