Accsoon SeeMo Pro SDI Adapter – First Look

Accsoon announced the SeeMo Pro adapter that turns your iOS device into an on-camera monitor. It has an SDI and an HMDI connection, plus monitoring, recording, and streaming features like the original adapter. The SeeMo Pro adapter costs $350 and will be available in Summer 2023. At this year’s NAB we had the chance to talk to Mitch Gross from Accsoon about all the features of this highly interesting device. Let’s have a closer look!

Just in case you have never heard of the Accsoon SeeMo HDMI adapter, it turns your iPhone or iPad into a full video monitor, recorder, and streaming device. The original SeeMo HDMI adapter was introduced about half a year ago and it is designed for lower-end applications, social media content, and so on. So if you are not already familiar with this fantastic little tool, please watch the full video review by my colleague Nino and read about the SeeMo here.

Accsoon SeeMo Pro

The new SeeMo Pro has a full metal body construction, provides an SDI in and out port with a loop through function, and an HDMI in port like the original adapter.

But the most important question we’ve received regarding this device concerns its ability to power your iOS device. Can it effectively charge my iPhone or iPad during extended periods of use for photography or filming? The short answer is: Yes, the SeeMo Pro can recharge your iOS device! The adapter can be powered by a standard NPF battery that mounts on the back of the adapter, or with a Lemo cable from an external battery.

Mounting options

In my opinion, the SeeMo Pro makes the most sense when you need a bigger monitor on your camera or on the set, and you already own an iPad. Using it only with an iPhone only as a monitor solution, you might get a better deal with an external stand-alone monitor. But with an iPad, you can benefit from the excellent screen quality of your iOS device and the features of the SeeMo Pro.

Accsoon SeeMo Pro features

The free Accsoon SEE App turns your iPad or iPhone into a full monitor solution and even more! It has a variety of tools on board that you know from classic stand-alone production monitors like waveform, magnification, custom 3D LUTs, vectorscope, false color, peaking, anamorphic de-squeeze, and, of course, audio level meters.

But together with your iOS device, you can do so much more than only monitoring your camera signal: you can livestream to platforms like YouTube and Facebook, record your signal up to 1080p60 in 8-bit H.264 (30mbit/sec), and do reference frame grabs.

SeeMo Pro & Switcher Studio

Last month Accsoon announced a strategic partnership with Switcher Studio, and now the SeeMo adapter can be integrated into Switcher Studio. You can use any SDI or HDMI device as a source inside Switcher Studio, and you can release multi-cam shooting with up to nine different sources inside the App. If you are interested in this feature, please check out this article.

Cooperation with Prolycht Lighting

You can control Prolycht Lighting fixtures by using the Chroma Link App directly from an iPad or an iPhone. You can send the video signal from the SeeMo or SeeMo Pro adapter to the iOS device, and then into the Chroma Link App. That means you can control the lights based on the actual video signal from your camera.
