In a welcome turn of events, Angelbird has announced the release of their AV Pro CFexpress Type A SE Memory Card, engineered for Sony’s Alpha and FX camera systems. Angelbird’s affordable AV PRO 1TB card was discontinued less than a year after its release in 2023. Now, this popular card from Angelbird is back in two iterations—160 GB and 330 GB capacity—and aims to deliver the speed and reliability professionals count on. Let’s have a look!

VPG standards are crucial for ensuring that memory cards can sustain the critical high speed necessary for high-data-rate video and still/burst photography. VPG certification requires a card to maintain stable read and write speeds without dropping frames or compromising performance. This challenge may have proved too great for the first generation of Angelbird CFexpress Type A cards, but the cards were very popular, very competitively priced, and have been sorely missed.

Enter the AV Pro CFexpress A SE Memory Card with 160 GB or 330 GB capacity and VPG 200 certification. The memory card’s maximum read and write speeds are 820 MB/s and 730 MB/s, respectively, and sustained speeds are 750 MB/s and 650 MB/s, respectively. The memory card features Stable Stream™ technology, and Angelbird says the card will “support uninterrupted read/write performance throughout the entire capacity of the card,” so there are no missed shots due to lagging or excessive buffering.

The build is solid, can withstand extreme temperatures, moisture, dust, shock, and x-ray, and
is also magnetic proof. The card supports 8K RAW, 4K, high frame-rate video at up to 120 fps, and the notable features listed below.
