Atomos Shinobi 7 II & Shogun AV-19M Introduced – First Look

At IBC 2026, Atomos was showcasing its new Shinobi 7 II and the Shogun AV-19M, a slim, lightweight, and bright 7-inch HDMI on-camera monitor and a stripped-down version of its 19-inch rack-mountable monitor/recorder/switcher, respectively. On the show floor, we stopped by the company’s booth to learn more directly from Atomos CEO Peter Barber.

Undoubtedly, when we sat down with Atomos back at IBC 2024, the company was sailing in pretty difficult waters. Indeed, the adoption of internal RAW recording by an increasing number of camera manufacturers was putting pressure on the Australian company, which, in turn, had decided to venture off track by launching products beyond their monitoring expertise, like the Sun Dragon LED Strip Light, for example.

This year, however, it looks like the company is finally rediscovering its inner guiding system. Indeed, after acquiring Flanders Scientific back in April, Atomos is now launching two new monitors: the promising Shinobi 7 II and the AV-19M. Let’s take a look!

Atomos Shinobi 7 II – Slim, lightweight, and bright

The new Atomos Shinobi 7 II is clearly built on the success of the 5-inch Shinobi II, from which it inherits the ultra-slim, lightweight ABS polycarbonate design (401 g / 14.1 oz.), a comprehensive set of monitoring tools (including EL Zone), and useful features such as USB-C camera control with selected cameras.

However, this new model takes the Shinobi family a step further, offering a larger 7-inch HDR touchscreen display with a peak brightness of 2,800 nits, literally outshining the 1,500-nit panel of the 5-inch model.

The Shinobi 7 II is an HDMI-only monitor with a single input and output, supporting 4K signals up to 60fps. It has a Sony NP-F battery slot for power, but also supports USB-C Power Delivery. Lastly, an Ethernet port is there for cameras that don’t support camera control via USB-C, like the Canon EOS C50, C80, or the new Sony FX5, for example.

Atomos Shogun AV-19M – overview

Next to the Shinobi 7 II, Atomos was also displaying its new Shogun AV-19M at IBC 2026. This is essentially a monitor-only version of their 19-inch 4K rack-mountable monitor/recorder/switcher that was announced at the beginning of this year.

This means the AV-19M still offers a 19-inch, 4K HDR DCI-P3 rack-mount touchscreen display, support for NDI, SDI, and HDMI, and Atomos monitoring tools, but lacks onboard recording and live switching capabilities.

We’ve also awarded the Shinobi 7 II with one of our CineD Best-of-Show Awards at IBC 2026 – details here.

Price and availability

The new Atomos Shinobi 7 II is shipping now and retails for $499/€496 (excl. VAT). The Shogun AV-19M is also available to pre-order from B&H and CVP, is priced at $1,899/€1,984.15 (excl. VAT), and is expected to become available in October.
