Following their “New Fast Glass” event, Creative Solutions is hosting yet another a free live online event on March 25th called “Camera Crew Safety”. This one is all about dealing with hostile conditions while filming, so you’d better buckle up and read on!
These weekly events have been running for some time now (you can watch the recordings here) and Creative Solutions seems happy to continue the tradition. In partnership with Teradek, Wooden Camera and SmallHD, these events revolve around industry-related topics: Cameras, lenses, production.. you name it. This event is also co-sponsored by SIGMA.
This time it’s about working under hostile conditions. A topic that may (hopefully) not affect your daily work, but if you find yourself in such a situation, it can be very helpful to know how to deal with it!
Camera Crew Safety – Free online event
Join cinematographer Kevin Garrison, cinematographer/photographer Philip Grossman, journalist / filmmaker Timothy Wolfer, and host, our very own producer / cinematographer Graham Sheldon as they discuss how to prepare your production team and effectively plan for contingencies while encountering riots, evading radiation, enduring freezing temperatures, and experiencing a host of other unforeseen conditions.
Working in hostile environments requires not only discipline on set, but also good preparation for the entire shoot. You just don’t want to get bogged down with questions while maneuvering through a contaminated area. Ask (and answer) all questions ahead of time and come well prepared. Of course, it’s also important to bring the right equipment for the job at hand. That’s why I think talks like this can be really super helpful for filmmakers working on a wide variety of projects to be as prepared as possible when it comes to difficult and potentially dangerous work environments.
