Blackmagic has released update version 19.0.2 for DaVinci Resolve with a few new features that include support for decoding MPEG transport stream clips, additional API script support, and improved audio alignment when replacing clips in the media pool. While they might not always be groundbreaking, DaVinci Resolve updates are definitely welcomed by users who benefit from the new features and improvements. DaVinci Resolve 19 was released with much fanfare in April, followed by update 19.0.1 in early September. But regardless of how routine an update may seem, it’s always wise to remind users to back up their data before installing—because you never know when an issue might arise, no matter how small the update may be.

New features in version 19.0.2

Update 19.0.2 adds support for decoding MPEG transport stream clips, expanding the range of file types available for post-production. Additionally, it improves audio alignment when replacing clips in the media pool, ensuring that newer clip versions with mismatched timecodes stay in sync with their audio.

The update also adds support for new media pool API scripts, enabling the selection of clips, per-clip custom metadata, and source start/end values. These new scripts help streamline your post-production workflow by automating repetitive tasks when managing media pool clips.

This update enhances how metadata is handled in EDL clip names, ensuring that when a clip is exported in an edit decision list, its name is retained in the metadata and accurately displayed when re-imported into DaVinci Resolve. Additionally, the replace clip command now preserves destination track settings, allowing you to perform multiple edits in succession without needing to reset your preferred track configurations.
