Dell 40 Inch 5K Widescreen Monitor Announced - Featuring Eye Comfort Certification and Thundelbolt 4

Dell, one of the leading companies in PC monitors, has introduced the Dell UltraSharp 40 Curved Thunderbolt Hub, a monitor for professionals with a 34″ version available and with eye comfort certification. Let’s take a closer look at it!

Dell Technologies, the North American company and an Innovation Award Honoree at CES 2024, has announced the upcoming release of the Dell UltraSharp 40 Curved Thunderbolt Hub monitor, which will be available globally by the end of next month. Featuring a 40″ curved screen and 120Hz refresh rate, Dell has put into it technology to reduce eye fatigue, which has led it to receive eye comfort certification.

Color accuracy and performance

If you make a living by editing or color-grading photos and videos, you know how important it is to accurately represent your work with a decent monitor. Precision and efficiency are two of the most crucial aspects of a monitor, paramount for accurately seeing and then transferring your work to other devices. Of course, proper calibration is a must. However, it’s important to note that whichever viewing device you’re working with can influence the way your work appears. In any case, working under industry standards as a starting point is not a bad idea.

We find proper, expensive reference monitors in color-grading boutiques and postproduction houses, which is the ideal situation. However, many of us are in charge of more than one aspect in a production and must balance our budget across various areas of responsibility. On top of that, we usually use our monitors for more than one purpose. An affordable but resolutive monitor is a must for our home studio, and the new Dell UltraSharp 40 Curved Thunderbolt Hub Monitor definitely fits that role.

Also, if you spend hours working in front of the computer, eye fatigue will be familiar to you. The new Dell monitor is the first 5K monitor with eye comfort certification. The company has partnered with TUV Rheinland to enhance eye wellness.

Similar features in two sizes

The new Dell UltraSharp 40 Curved Thunderbolt Hub Monitor has IPS Black Panel technology for better contrast (2.000:1 ratio) and fine detail in 5K (5120×2160). The monitor presents a 99% DCI-P3 / Display P3 color space, ensuring accuracy in delicate jobs (1.07 billion colors). We can calibrate colors with Dell Color Management software.

Dell has not left connectivity behind, and the monitor offers Thunderbolt 4 with up to 140W power delivery. It features high-speed 2.5 Gbps wired Ethernet connectivity via RJ45, HDMI 2.1 FRL (Fixed Rate Link), and DisplayPort 1.4. The connections are located in the front part for quick and easy access.

Another smaller size and different resolution version of the monitor will be available that includes many of its big brother’s features. The Dell UltraSharp 34 Curved Thunderbolt Hub Monitor (U3425WE) will feature TUV Rheinland® five-star eye comfort certification, IPS Black technology, and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity (up to 90W).

The monitor is finished in premium platinum silver, and Dell has used sustainable materials in its production and packaging, like recycled plastic and aluminum.

Both monitor versions will be available globally starting February 27, 2024. The Dell UltraSharp 40 Curved Thunderbolt Hub Monitor (U4025QW) will retail at $2,399.99, and the Dell Ultrasharp 34 Curved Thunderbolt Hub Monitor (U3425WE) will cost $1,019.99.
