FilmConvert Nitrate and CineMatch Camera Profiles for Canon EOS R6 Mark II, EOS R7 and EOS R8 Released

FilmConvert have just released three new camera profiles for their Nitrate and CineMatch plugins, designed explicitly for Canon shooters using the EOS R6 Mark II, EOS R7, and EOS R8. All profiles are now available to download free of charge for existing users. So, let’s take a closer look at it!

The Canon EOS R6 Mark II was released in November 2022, and if you missed it, you can take a look at our review of this great compact full-frame camera. The EOS R8 was released earlier this year and sported a similar sensor as the R6 Mark II, the same DIGIC X image processor with similar autofocus capabilities, but in a smaller camera body that is less efficient in terms of heat dissipation but most of all doesn’t have IBIS (In-Body Image Stabilization). Last but not least, the Canon EOS R7 was released in May 2022 and is, along with the Canon EOS R10, the company’s first R-series mirrorless camera with an APS-C sensor.

If you use one of these Canon cameras for filmmaking applications, FilmConvert has just released three new camera packs to help you color-match your EOS R6 Mark II, EOS R7, and EOS R8 footage and apply accurate film simulation to grade your footage quickly!

If you’re an avid follower of CineD, you’ve probably heard us talk about FilmConvert products for quite some time now, as we use these plugins on a daily basis to get our own personal and professional projects to the finish line as quickly as possible. If you’ve never heard of FilmConvert Nitrate and CineMatch, these are color correction and color grading plugins compatible with Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, and After Effects.

In a nutshell, CineMatch is a plugin that allows you to easily color-match two – or more – cameras together. All you have to do is select your source camera model and your camera model target and let the plugin do the magic for you. Since FilmConvert precisely collects camera sensor data in their lab, you can rest assured that the results are very precise. On the other hand, Nitrate uses the same camera sensor data for color grading purposes, allowing you to apply famous film stock looks to your footage.

FilmConvert has already profiled thousands of cinema and mirrorless camera models, smartphones, and drones, and they keep adding new models regularly. This time, the FilmConvert team profiled the Canon EOS R6 Mark II, EOS R7, and EOS R8, which you’ll be able to color match and color grade within minutes inside CineMatch and Nitrate.
