Frame.io Updates: Enhanced Security, Expanded Workflows, and FUJIFILM X100VI C2C Addition

Frame.io recently released several updates to their platform, including enhanced security with forensic watermarking, support for Microsoft Office files, and the addition of the FUJIFILM X100VI in-camera integration for Frame.io C2C. So, let’s take a closer look at these updates!

Since its acquisition by Adobe in 2021, the team at Frame.io has released numerous updates mainly oriented towards Camera-to-Cloud integration, as their video collaboration and reviewing system is considered by many as one of the best in the industry. However, following user feedback and requests, Frame.io released an interesting security update and support for Microsoft Office files, as well as the addition of the FUJIFILM X100VI as the latest in-camera C2C compatible camera.

Frame.io update – forensic watermarking

Let’s start with one of the most significant additions to Frame.io: forensic watermarking. Frame.io already had built-in security protocols and tools, including visible Watermark ID and Digital Rights Management encryption, 2FA, and Single Sign-On.

However, forensic watermarking is different, as it places invisible watermarks directly on your video files. According to Frame.io, this forensic watermarking can survive copying, screen recordings, and external recordings, regardless of whether the watermarked content is viewed/shared/downloaded/edited. If you are working on a sensitive project that leaks, the Frame.io team and their NAGRA partner can start investigating. Then, you’ll receive a detailed report with “the origin of the breach, including asset IDs, account, team, project, user info, and playback times.”

Frame.io’s forensic watermarking works with every video format supported. You can activate Watermark ID and forensic watermarking directly in your account, which will be active within seconds.

Support for Microsoft Office files

The next addition can sound pretty basic, but Frame.io now supports Microsoft Office files, including a preview of PowerPoint, Excel, and Word documents. That feature makes sharing files with your clients/talents more straightforward, so every document is in the same place as your video files.

Last but not least, the FUJIFILM X100VI now features in-camera integration for Frame.io C2C. This means you can directly upload video or pictures from your camera to Frame.io and speed up your workflow.

All these features are available now as a free upgrade for all existing customers. You can try Frame.io for free for up to two users and with 2GB of storage. Frame.io’s Pro plan starts at $15 per month per user and includes 2TB of storage and up to 5 users.
