Frame.io V3.5 Update

During IBC 2019, the collaborative platform Frame.io just introduced its Frame.io V.3.5 update. This new version aims at reducing complex post-production workflows while increasing security controls. Also part of this update is a new video player and an app marketplace to make your life easier. Let’s take a closer look at it!

Frame.io V.3.5 Update

If you are not familiar with Frame.io, it is a collaborative platform made by and for post-production professionals. The idea is that your entire team (or client) can join your project on Frame.io and give you direct feedback on the edit. For more information, you can read our review after a year of use.

The team at Frame.io is continuously working hard to make their platform better version after version. Earlier this year, they already introduced a couple of new features like the integration of Frame.io onto DaVinci Resolve and a new version of the Adobe Premiere Pro extension. So what’s new in this Frame V.3.5 update?

Login-only sharing: this functionality ensures that only some Frame.io users can access the Review and Presentation links. You have to approve these accounts by yourself as an Admin. With this new functionality, you can make sure that someone doesn’t see something he is not supposed to look at (like work-in-progress versions, for example). This feature is available in Beta for enterprise accounts only.

A new inbox is also available for enterprise accounts. It is now more comfortable for your team to see everything that has been shared. The new inbox keeps all invitations—regardless of user status—in one single, authentication-protected place and organized for review.

In this Frame.io V.3.5, they also improved the search engine and filter capabilities. It should now be easier to find a specific asset by combining multiple filters. These filters include the date, file type, who uploaded it and so on.

They also redesigned the video player including new player controls that comes from the NLE world. For example, you can use the JKL keys to navigate into the files at various speeds, including 2x, 4x, and 8x.

The Frame.io iOS app has also been upgraded with a new design and some new features that should speed up your workflow. These features include precision scrubbing, viewed status, a file information tab, team-only commenting, and a new share flow.

Finally, there is a new app marketplace built-in Frame.io. They decided to create a dedicated site to help you browse over a thousand apps so you can quickly find the perfect stock footage or music for your project. You can even back up your media, or publish your final product online. This marketplace looks smart and should save you a bunch of time.

Pricing and Availability

Frame.io is an online subscription service that starts at $19.00 per month for a Pro membership and $49.00 for a Team plan. You can try it for free for seven days.

The Frame.io V3.5 update is already available for free for all new and existing customers.
