The FUJIFILM GFX ETERNA 55 large format cinema camera offers recording modes up to DCI 8K at 30fps and 4K open gate 4:3 at 48fps. There is a built-in variable ND, enhanced connectivity, an internal battery for hot swap, and more. The shipping should start in October 2025, and the pricing in the US has been set to $16,499.95.
We first started following the development of this cinema camera back in November 2024. Last updates happened in June during the Cine Gear expo in LA, when FUJIFILM disclosed most of the specs and features and promised a release later in 2025. Today, the Japanese company announces the full specs and features of the GFX ETERNA 55, along with its shipping start and price. Let’s take a closer look.

The company’s first dedicated cinema camera is built around the GFX 102MP CMOS II HS Bayer filter array sensor (43.8 × 33.9 mm) with a dual base ISO of 800 and 3200. Combined with the X-Processor 5, FUJIFILM claims the camera delivers 14+ stops of dynamic range. We will, of course, put the ETERNA 55 through its paces in our lab test once we get a test unit. The sensor also features an optical low-pass filter (OLPF).
There is an internal variable ND filter built into the ETERNA 55. It offers ND Density of ND0.6 – ND2.1 (.015 F-stop increments). When it comes to autofocus, the ETERNA will offer intelligent hybrid AF (TTL contrast AF / TTL phase detection AF) with subject detection (FACE/animal/bird/automobile/motorcycle & bike/airplane/train) for GF lenses.

As shown in the table above, the GFX ETERNA 55 offers recording modes up to DCI 8K at 30fps or 4K open gate 4:3 at 48fps. Based on the GFX100 II, the ETERNA 55 supports the following codecs for internal recording:
External video output via HDMI features either a 12-bit raw or a 4:2:2 10-bit uncompressed signal.
In terms of connectivity, ETERNA 55 features the following ports:
Regarding audio, the ETERNA 55 offers support for a TASCAM XLR microphone adapter on the hot shoe of the camera handle for expanded audio input compatibility.
On top of the on-board menu display located on the side of the ETERNA, the camera also comes with a large 5” touchscreen LCD monitor on the flexible mount. It features a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits, 6.22 million dots (1920x1080x3), along with function buttons.
The on-board menu display on the side is 3” with a maximum of 700 nits and a 3:2 aspect ratio, 1.04 million dots (720x480x3).
There are custom framing guides, and the camera can display up to three of them simultaneously (2.39:1, 17:9, 16:9, 5:4, 4:3, 3:2, 1:1, or custom). You can set scaling, color, and line width for these guides.
The camera supports 20 types of film simulations. On top of that, FUJFILM claims it will develop new 3D LUTs for select film simulations for F-Log2 / F-Log2 C (with ITU-R BT.709), which will be downloadable from the web. These will include ETERNA, ETERNA BLEACH BYPASS, PROVIA/Standard, Velvia/Vivid, ASTIA/Soft, REALA ACE, Classic Chrome, Classic Neg, and ACROS. The ETERNA 55 supports importing and storing up to sixteen 3D LUTs.

Like many existing FUJIFILM cameras, the GFX ETERNA 55 supports the Adobe Frame.io Camera to Cloud workflow.
GFX ETERNA 55 supports a web browser-based remote control application that runs locally on a wired or wireless network. It also supports BLE connection with ATOMOS AirGlu and FUJIFILM TG-BT1.
External timecode will be supported via Timecode In/Out connector (BNC), Atomos AirGlu, and via USB-C connection with Ambient devices.
FUJIFILM claims the camera’s nominal power consumption is 21W, while the maximum power consumption reaches 49W. The camera offers DC input (12-16V) or V-Mount input (11-16.8V). Accessory power is available via a 2-pin Lemo 12V @ 3A, and a 12-pin Hirose lens connector 14V .5A.
Talking about power, the camera includes an internal slot for an NP-W235 battery pack. This allows for hot swapping the external camera power source (V-mount battery pack) without the need to power down the camera body. This reduces the potential for clip corruption on accidental power loss. The internal NP-W235 battery is automatically charged from the connected external power source.
The ETERNA 55 supports CFexpress Type B media as well as SD cards.
The camera’s form factor is a first for FUJIFILM, and it accommodates workflows for both single operators and camera crews. The dimensions are about 110.8 × 138.2 × 176.8 mm (4.36 × 5.44 × 6.96 in), and the weight is around 2.0 kg (4.41 lbs), (excluding NP-W235 & media).
Operating temperature is 14-104°F and humidity 10%~80% (no condensation).
